Maybe it’s the angle, but that ram is looking like a tank…. The horns are courtesy of his painted desert half and the build is the Katahdin influence and the lambs that came from him are filling out very well too. We’re still playing around with breeds and genetics but I think we’re getting somewhere!

Milk orders are ready for pick up from the farmstand in Burkburnett.

A huge thanks to Hoegger Family Farms for taking care of all the milk & egg orders while I’ve been out of commission. I miss seeing everyone at Home Zone pick ups and hope to be back at it before too long.

For those of you who have been asking about raw milk, Hoegger Family Farms is located in Scotland, TX and offers clean & delicious cream line raw milk for sale. They also have a self-serve farmstand on their farm where you can pick up raw milk or you can order through their website and choose from several pick up locations in Wichita Falls and Burkburnett. They make their deliveries every Tuesday so if you missed it this week you can order for next Tuesday.

*** our farmstand is just a pick up location for the raw milk. If you’d like to pick up from our farmstand you have to preorder through the Hoegger’s website.

I think we finally cracked the code on how to get pumpkins to grow! We planted three varieties of mini pumpkins this year as an experiment and they’re doing great. There are more just starting to fruit and the vines are still flowering!

If I wasn’t ready for fall before, I sure am now 🎃

We might all be hot and miserable right now, but fall will come and we’ll be ready for it!

You all can thank Shugarshoo Home Goods for peer pressuring us into bringing our beeswax candles back for the fall & winter.

I couldn’t resist kicking things off with Pumpkin Spice but we’ll have plenty of other scents to choose from for those of you who don’t partake in pumpkin spice season 🍂

I’m still very much in the “rest” phase of resting and recuperating so I don’t know when the full fall line will be ready but we’ll start rolling out our most popular fall scents on September 3rd at the After Hours Artwalk.

You’ll also be able to find our beeswax candles in the Farmstand and at the Downtown Wichita Falls Farmers Market for the rest of the year.

It’s that time of year….
Without rain or irrigation pastures can’t recover from having livestock on them and we have to feed hay to make sure the sheep are getting enough to eat.

I recently talked with someone who scoffed at the idea that livestock could be pasture-raised or grass-fed when “everything is brown”.

Now I don’t know any farmer that likes to feed hay. It’s not bad for the animals but it’s not quite the same as fresh grass and it’s a lot more expensive. That being said, feeding hay is sort of like using canned tomatoes when fresh tomatoes are out of season. It’s not the same, but a canned tomato is a tomato and hay is grass…… in case you didn’t know 😉

Thankful to know that we’ll be able to feed the animals through the rest of summer and praying that fall is kinder to us 🙏🌧️
