Pete’s Pheasant Farm

Pete’s Pheasant Farm We raise pheasants — lots of them. Follow for a behind-the-scenes look at the chaos, beauty, and daily grind of life on a pheasant farm in Burke, South Dakota.

It’s a wild ride, and we’re glad you’re here for it.

Just got these birds peepered and… they’re currently in full “what just happened?” mode. 😆

Standing there frozen like their world just changed — because it kinda did.

Give ‘em a few hours and they’ll be back to business!

Opened the coop door and the 1-month-olds came flying out like rockets.

One of ‘em almost took me out 😅 — didn’t know I was hiding there.

They’ve definitely figured out what those wings are for.

This little guy decided to hitch a ride on my shoulder while I was doing chores yesterday.

His hood keeps him from seeing directly in front of him… so I’m pretty sure he thinks I’m just a really loud, mobile tree branch.

Our 2-day-old melanistic mutant chicks just landed, and they’re absolutely demolishing the GroGel.

You’d think we dropped a pile of candy in there the way they’re going at it. 😂

Gotta get that day-one energy boost!

Blowing out a bunch of our coop fans today. 💨

A leaf blower and a little patience go a long way — wild how much dust builds up in these things.

Keeps the air moving and the birds healthier in the long run.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

These two managed to lock themselves up in “pheasant jail” today. 😆

They got stuck behind the wire and had to be rescued — guess they learned the hard way that crime doesn’t pay.

These 9-week-old birds are starting to get their color — and they’re lookin’ handsomer by the day. 😎🕴️

Feathers coming in strong, and attitudes to match.

Karson walking ahead while we check the 9-week-olds, keeping birds from running under the four-wheeler.

Simple job, but it makes a big difference when they’re all trying to zigzag under the tires.

Zero thoughts. Just pellets.

When it’s been raining, we always keep feed off the ground.

Wet feed can lead to parasites like worms in pheasants — so we use feeders like this to keep things clean and dry. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference.
