🌲 What would YOUR kid do if they had to survive in the wild? There's only one way to find out. 😏

Russell Farm's Survival Camp is a one-day, all-out outdoor experience built for kids ages 12–15 who are ready to get their hands dirty and walk away with skills that actually matter. We're talking:
- Fire Building: master one of humanity's oldest survival skills
- Tents & Structures: build a shelter that could actually save your life
- Fish Ecology: learn to read water like a pro
- Knot Tying: the skill that holds everything together, literally
- Edible Plants: know what's safe to eat when there's no grocery store in sight
- Sun Safety: because the elements don't play around
- Entomology: discover why bugs might be your best ally in the wild
And that's just the start...

What an incredible day at the Show Me How Festival this past Saturday 🎨🎶

The farm was filled with creativity, craftsmanship, music and community as talented Texas artisans shared their skills and passions with festivalgoers of all ages. From live demonstrations and unique handmade goods to delicious food and great entertainment, there was something around every corner to discover and enjoy.

Events like the Show Me How Festival bring people together, celebrate the makers and creators who help define our culture and remind us of the value of learning, sharing and supporting local talent.

This summer, young Burleson explorers are headed to the Moon! 🚀

We're excited to invite kids ages 6–11 to Mini STEAM Camp: Operation Moonbase at Russell Farm Art Center on June 8-9! Over two days, campers will take on astronaut training, create craters, launch rocket experiments, and tackle creative engineering challenges inspired by space exploration. And we have some very special guests joining us: NASA Solar System Ambassadors! 🌙

We loved seeing so many creative faces come through the doors of the Russell Farm Art Center for May's Farm Fresh Art Workshop! Participants got hands-on learning how to turn repurposed billboard vinyl into bold, one-of-a-kind artistic journals. No two were alike, just like the talented people who made them.

🎨 Join us for a relaxed morning of sips, snacks, and sketching! Community Sketch Group meets every Saturday at Russell Farm Art Center. Follow our weekly theme or explore whatever art calls to you. Bring your favorite supplies and treats if you’d like—basic sketch materials, bottomless coffee, and light snacks are provided. Free and open to adults and families. Come and go anytime between 9 a.m. and noon, only at Russell Farm!

🐝 June 13 - National Pollinators Month
Pollinators are out doing their work, one flower at a time. Sketch the creatures who flit, hover, sip, or crawl through the blossoms. Let your page hum with life.

🎥 Some places hold more than history. They hold community. Russell Farm Art Center has been a gathering place since 1877 when a widowed mother of five moved her family onto 540 acres on Christmas Eve and refused to let hardship have the final word.

Today, that same spirit lives on. The Russell Farm Art Center is where Burleson comes to create, connect, and belong.

Elizabeth, the Russell Farm Art Center Manager, describes Russell Farm as "[creating] a very welcoming community. What makes it unique is that people from all backgrounds and age groups can find connection here, whether that’s through history, gardening, art, animals, education, volunteering, or events. It feels personal when people come here. Families return for programs, volunteers become deeply involved, and visitors often feel like they are stepping into a slower, more meaningful space that encourages connection and creativity."

Renowned TV and film special effects makeup artist Heather Henry is bringing her incredible talents to the Show Me How Festival to transform a lucky volunteer right before your eyes.

✏️ Community Sketch Group: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon.
Free and open to all ages and abilities. Grab a coffee, bring your supplies (or use ours!), and join us for a new theme each week.

The Show Me How Festival is back on June 6 at 10 a.m. and it's gonna be awesome! Picture this: Texan artisans showing off their cool skills right in front of you, delicious food to munch on, live music to groove to, and tons of unique stuff to buy. It's gonna be a blast for the whole fam!
