Steep garden beds avoid compaction from increased pressure over time. Steep beds mean more surface area in your garden for your plants and the height makes it easy for harvesting. The greater the mass, the greater water-retention benefits.

More water retention means more life and more growth which in turn means more CO2 sequestration. It’s all about finding ways to be more sustainable and more efficient while healing out soil.

Let’s work together to create a better way of living while working with nature and being creative.

Over the last 70 years, the level of every nutrient in almost every kind of food has fallen between 10 and 100 percent. This is an incredibly sobering fact. An individual today would need to consume twice as much meat, three times as much fruit, and four to five times as many vegetables to obtain the same amount of minerals and trace elements available in those same foods in 1940.
Dr. David Thomas (5,6) has provided a comprehensive analysis of historical changes in food composition from tables published by the Australian Medical Research Council, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Fisheries and Foods, and the Food Standards Agency. By comparing data available in 1940 with that in 1991, Thomas demonstrated a substantial loss in mineral and trace element content in every group of food he investigated. The nutrient depletion summarized in Thomas’ review represents a weighted average of mineral and trace element changes in 27 kinds of vegetables and 10 kinds of meat.

Significant mineral and trace element depletion was also recorded in the 17 varieties of fruit and two dairy products tested over the same period (The mineral depletion in meat and dairy reflects the fact that animals are consuming plants and/or grains that are themselves minerally depleted.

In addition to the overall decline in nutrient density, Thomas found significant changes in the ratios of minerals to one another. Given that there are critical ratios of minerals and trace elements for optimum physiological function, it is highly likely that these distorted ratios have an impact on human health and well-being.

Cutting your lawns or yards grasses/plants with a lawn mower too short causes your grades/plants to stop regenerating and growing it’s roots which in turn causes your soil to lose much needed biomass. When we clip our lawns at 50% we promote grass growth, CO2 sequestration by our lawns and health soil.

You Amy ask why is this important? It’s important to promote these things in our lawns because it is part of our eco system and part of reducing drought. When your lean is more diverse and growing it sequesters more water into the soil which is what we need across the USA as we are all feeling the pressures of drought. Healthy soil means that our eco system is healthy, healthy eco system means our earth is healthy and a healthy earth equals a healthy population.

Don’t look at your lawn as just a decorative piece of your house it is a critical part of our eco system just like any other piece of of our eco system. If you would fight to protect a forest or a animal that is in the endangered list then you should fight for the health of your soil in your own yard.

What is landscape? Landscape to most people is what you see above ground and what is immediately visible to the eye.

But for us as worm castings producers we go further then that, we look at landscape by its biodiversity and what’s underneath in the soil that is helping the landscape thrive. A lot of people don’t realize that in order to have a beautiful yard, garden or farm you need trillions and trillions of micro organisms, fungi and bacteria building your soil. Without a healthy biology there is not landscape, there is not beauty on the earth. Our landscapes need more healthy fertilizers and compost not generic chemicals or dirt being dumped on top of it. We need to feed our soils with living nutrients such as worm castings and not just food scraps. Now im not saying compost doesn’t work, not at all but I am saying we need to look further on how to enhance our soil by giving it the boost it needs with healthy living micro organisms to work our soil and build it up.

If you like vegetables or having a garden then you need to learn about the benefits of worm castings!!

Vegetable garden and farms love worm castings as worm castings can increase your vegetable plants yields by upwards of 50%!! Now you may ask “how is this possible?” Well it’s possible because of the micro biology inside of the worm castings, our worm castings is not like your regular fertilizer or compost that you would get at your local supply store. Our worm castings are filled with a living micro biology that not only feeds your plants nutrients but actively works to get rid of the bad organisms in your soil that would cause root rot or pests in your vegetables. Worm castings act as guardian to your gardens against pests, heat, drought and diseases. The microbiology in our worm castings also increases your plants ability to absorb nutrients which help your plant grow bigger, stronger and faster while being organic and chemical free.

With California being in a drought and a lot of places around the world suffering from a lack of rain fall there is a need for our soil to retain more water. Worm castings is a way to do that, worm castings retain more water due to the structure in the soil and the micro organisms inside of the soil that help the organic fertilizer be more like a sponge then dirt that become mud or a hard ball when wet. The beautiful thing about worm castings is that it can help you decrease your plants water needs and your usage of water because of its water retention capabilities. This is a critical tool to use in times of drought as you will find your plants will thrive even when it’s hot and dry out due to the worm castings keeping the moisture at the roots and not allowing it to just evaporate. Get some worm castings today and give it a try!!
