Trying something new for seed starting this year. Our property makes it hard to sow directly, especially for anything that needs to be sown early, as the soil stays extremely saturated late into the season. Hopefully this will be a successful way to get a good start on the growing season. I really miss my greenhouse, I hope someday soon I can get one here. Shadow our barn cat has really warmed up to me and likes to keep me company now when I’m working. ☺️

Added more blueberries to my blueberry patch, up to 36 now. ☺️ After doing more research I’ve come to the conclusion that I should have followed my gut instinct and planted them in elevated rows. I knew this in the beginning (because every hole I dug to plant them filled with water) but had already spent so much money on soil for the garden that I skipped it for the blueberries. But the first two rows of blueberries I put in when we first moved here have hardly grown and I know it’s because their roots are too wet for too many months out of the year. Our property turns into a bog for about six months. Most of the blueberry farms around here plant in elevated rows. So I’m going to go ahead and spend the money on soil and the time digging them all up and redoing the set up because I don’t want to regret not doing it later. The risk of fungal infection is greatly increased when the roots are too wet and they aren’t getting enough oxygen.

Lately just about every morning I go out to do farm chores there’s an eagle just wanting for its chance to snag one of my birds. 🦅

Coldest morning yet. Had to thaw out bunny water bottles for the first time this winter. No snow yet though.
