Our farm-fresh veggies have a mission: To grow community one tomato-carrot-pepper at a time. We believe that knowing who is growing your food and how it it being grown is important. We believe that caring for each other is important. We believe that healthy soil produces healthy plants and these strong plants produce nutritious vegetables. We are the farmers here on the Farmstead - Vijay & Beth -

and we are proud of the vegetables we grow. Our focus is on soil health, sustainably-grown vegetables, hand-harvesting, freshness, the highest quality, having fun, and creating a community around our vegetables. A community that supports each other through food. A community that cares enough for each other to make sure that all are fed. We are different. We don't look like your typical farmers. We didn't grow up in farming families. We are mission-minded and faith-filled. We are farmers by God's calling. We want to change the way you eat and how you think about food. We want our vegetables to bring us together with a focused effort to feed everyone the healthy, nutritious food they deserve. The vegetables that are grown by our hands on the Farmstead come fresh from our fields to your table. We are a part of your family and you are a vital part of our farm.

Our Story

We are parents, partners, friends, and Jesus followers. We are passionate about the subject of food; more specifically the issue of hunger in our own community. We are your farmers...and we know that fresh, locally grown produce is important to you. It is to us too. And we take great pride in growing delicious, nutritious vegetables and watermelon on our small farm here in southern Wisconsin. We are the Narayanan Family: Vijay, Beth, and our three "farm girls". God is calling us to farm.

It is such a fulfilling task to take a plant all the way from being a tiny seed to producing nutritious fruit to becoming a delicious creation on the dinner table. Our focus is on sustainably growing fresh, healthy produce & relationships, sharing with our neighbors, and bringing glory to God. We are developing meaningful, important relationships with the local restaurants and nursing homes that we wholesale to, the long-time customers at the farmers' markets we attend, and the new lovers of produce that come out to our farm store and join our CSA. We intentionally growing produce to feed to those in need in our community - not as an afterthought but purposefully growing vegetables to feed our neighbors. God has continuously qualified us to physically grow vegetables and become aware of the need for farm fresh produce by all of the people in our community.

We continue to hear His voice calling us to be farmers, but with a much more specific purpose: to be His hands and feet and feed those who are hungry. We are pursuing His vision of a farm in full production, farmed for the community by the community. We have faithfully followed His lead and are running full speed towards the mission of feeding His people here on the Farmstead. It's time to get started growing for intentional giving!

Farming is all about family. For us, family includes not only our relatives, but also our friends, the friends we consider relatives, neighbors, the people we know from church and school, the people we work with, and the people we have met at the farmers market. We call these people "Our FARMily" as they are all an integral part of our farm. This is where our farm comes together with our family. Together we plant the seeds, tend the plants, harvest the produce, and enjoy the bounty. And just as we feel about welcoming members into our own family, there is always plenty of room for one more...you. Won’t you join us?
