Update - SOLD

Well, I thought there was a flock swap today…but there isn’t. 🥴
I have 50ish of these celadon laying chicks available (Burlington NC). They were hatched 3/31 NPIP/AI Clean.
If sold this weekend (4/25-4/26) they are $5 each. I also included a pic of the eggs they lay. Send me a message if you’re interested.

Next weekend 5/1, 5/2, 5/3 they are $6 each.

Yes, we garden year-round too. These babies somehow miraculously survived being in a bed that was tilled, and after shoveling holes for tomatoes, I heard them screaming and stopped. I thought I had gotten them. 😭 We double-checked, didn’t find any blood, and put them back with a tic-tac-toe pattern so we would know if the mom came back. And she did! As much as we hate rabbits in the garden, witnessing the little babies was a heartwarming blessing!

Some folks get funny about eating fertilized eggs vs non fertilized eggs because they think they will bite into a chick. These pictures show you the difference. There is a bullseye for the fertilized and a white spot (no ring) for the non. They have to be a 99.5 continuously for over a week to develop, otherwise the bullseye stays a bullseye and it all tastes the same. Also, a quail hen will lay an egg everyday regardless if there’s a male around or not. 🤗

A lot of people don’t know what the male quail (rooster) sounds like. I have a few dozen of these teenagers and they are so mad I separated them from the girls. And they are letting me know it. 🤣
