🐈‍⬛ What we do about cats:

Lest you think we are over here breeding cats and populating the Hill Country lol, I must let you know!

We only breed our Manx cats. We let them have 2-3 litters of Manx kittens then we get the mama fixed. It’s a very tightly controlled breeding program. We have four generations of Manx going back to Bobbie. Bobbie is the resident Manx who came to us 14 years ago. Bobby had 6-7 litters before we fixed her. We only keep 1-2 Manx mama’s out of Bobbie line at a time. Manx are well known for their mousing abilities and are very self sufficient barn cats.

All other litters you see are feral mamas that are brought to us or litters one of us finds, with the understanding the feral has to be fixed as soon as she weans. We accept donations to help us place these kittens. We don’t charge for the feral kittens but do offer this link if you want to help us out.

A lot of people want a kitten but can’t afford to adopt and don’t want to sign their life away just to have a kitty around the barn. There’s no way you can get a kitten at no charge. The whole system of pet adoption is a reverse mess. They tell us to adopt but then they charge an arm and a leg.

Rats are a big deal around our place and we have to keep control of them. Barn cats is a good way to do that. Now you know what we do! 🐈‍⬛

Here’s the link if you want to help us out:) we tried to pick reasonable items that we need, but you’re welcome to drop off any used items or things you think would help us.

Manny found this feral litter so we decided to cage them before the kittens got feral, then get the mama fixed before we turn her loose, so we got mama and babies all tucked into a big rabbit hutch. But she found a hole in the wire and wiggled out stealing two of her kittens. She relocated the two leaving two behind so I had to let her have them. Now they are under a mobile home next door. I’ll dig them out soon and get them back in a cage. I swear feral cats are a pain! Get them fixed first chance you get. Cat colonies are hard to manage once they get started.

Rains again this weekend. I took this photo last night right before the squall. So beautiful. Remember when the weather is humid and your chicks are between 3-7 weeks old you must watch out for coccidiosis. That’s the most susceptible time in their life.

We have puppies!

Tinker is our number one chicken guard dog and she’s four year old now. Tinker came from a ranch in Burnet where her parents guarded goats and chickens. She’s Achbash Pyrenees which is a lighter weight Pyr that can maneuver in the mountains better than the Great Pyr.

We bred Tinker to Cabela, a male that my daughter raised for the Cabela’s. Tinker was a natural st & month of age. I knew she was going to make an excellent chicken guard dog. Her first litter was at 18 months old. One of the little females was the absolute best pup of the litter and my husband wanted to keep her. He decided to let me sell her because we needed the money to run the chicken farm so I sold her to a good friend! They named her Belle, for “TinkerBelle”. She’s made them a great dog. Friendly and easy going. Very smart girl!

They decided to move back to Montana and were unable to keep her so I took her back. She was bred to Hoss their guard dog, and she whelped three days ago. These are the most adorable puppies I’ve ever seen. I wish I could keep them all!

Unfortunately I can’t keep them all! Ha! We are offering her puppies up for sale now. Anyone interested in a Pyrenees that is pure Pyrenees from a solid chicken guard line let me know by texting 512.755.5056. Come pick out your puppy and we will put a special collar on it.

We have four girls and six boys! The price will be $500. Please put $250 down when you pick out your puppy and it will be $250 when you pick it up.

Puppies will be ready to go home on May 13th. Possibly a little sooner.
