🐈⬛ What we do about cats:
Lest you think we are over here breeding cats and populating the Hill Country lol, I must let you know!
We only breed our Manx cats. We let them have 2-3 litters of Manx kittens then we get the mama fixed. It’s a very tightly controlled breeding program. We have four generations of Manx going back to Bobbie. Bobbie is the resident Manx who came to us 14 years ago. Bobby had 6-7 litters before we fixed her. We only keep 1-2 Manx mama’s out of Bobbie line at a time. Manx are well known for their mousing abilities and are very self sufficient barn cats.
All other litters you see are feral mamas that are brought to us or litters one of us finds, with the understanding the feral has to be fixed as soon as she weans. We accept donations to help us place these kittens. We don’t charge for the feral kittens but do offer this link if you want to help us out.
A lot of people want a kitten but can’t afford to adopt and don’t want to sign their life away just to have a kitty around the barn. There’s no way you can get a kitten at no charge. The whole system of pet adoption is a reverse mess. They tell us to adopt but then they charge an arm and a leg.
Rats are a big deal around our place and we have to keep control of them. Barn cats is a good way to do that. Now you know what we do! 🐈⬛
Here’s the link if you want to help us out:) we tried to pick reasonable items that we need, but you’re welcome to drop off any used items or things you think would help us.
