Lunn Angus was established in 2005 with the purchase of 11 American Angus yearling heifers. Today, through selective breeding and culling, we have over 40 head of strong, powerful and balanced registered American Angus cattle. Our "no-holes" approach generates cattle that will produce in any environment. Disposition, performance, production and value all share equal weight in deciding the makeup o
f our herd. The Lunn family farm is located in Burns, Tennessee, not far from the intersection of I-840 and I-40 in southeastern Dickson County. The farm has been in our family over 104 years and our hope is to see it through as the family farm for the next 100 years. Rolling hills typical of Middle Tennessee are perfect for cattle production and the registered American Angus cattle we produce reflect the environment in which they are bred and raised. Lunn Angus takes a modern approach to a time-tested business in developing seedstock cattle that are both productive and profitable for our customers. BQA certified, we are ever mindful of our duty as caretakers of animals that depend upon us for their well-being. Our comprehensive vaccination programs include modified live virus products, injectable mineral supplementation and parasite control. With the exception of 60 days prior to breeding, our herd is entirely grass and natural forage based. 60 days before a timed artificial insemination date, A.I. candidates are limit fed a commercial protein feed top-dressed with a granular mineral supplement to prepare the cattle for breeding in optimum body condition. We utilize artificial insemination techniques to expedite genetic improvements in our cattle. Sires represented in our herd include N Bar Emulation EXT, Objective 0T26, New Design 5050, SAV Net Worth 4200, Leachman Saugahatchie 3000C, SAV Bismark 5682, R/M Ironstone 4047, Riverbend Cornerstone, Connealy Impression, EF Complement 8088, WMR Timeless 458 an Bando 1961J among others. Breeding decisions are directed toward producing calves that both meet and exceed requirements for cost-share funding under Tennessee's Agriculture Enhancement Program for improving the quality of Tennessee beef. A selection of our quality bulls is sent to the University of Tennessee Research & Education Center in Spring Hill, Tennessee, to participate in the prestigeous UT Performance Bull Test every fall. We are proud to say all but one of our Lunn Angus bulls have passed the extreme rigors of the test and have gone on to various farms throughout the Southeast as herd sires for producers looking for quality and performance in their bull purchase. Lunn Angus is a proud member of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Tennessee Cattlemens Association, Tennessee Beef Improvement Initiative, American Angus Association, Tennessee Angus Association, Middle Tennessee Angus Association, West Tennessee Angus Association, and the Dickson County Livestock Association.
