New products have been sliding out of the fermenting kitchen, so let’s get introduced!

💜Our new Elderberry Mocktail mix is a gorgeous shrub crafted from our homegrown American elderberries, homemade (!) apple cider vinegar, organic cane sugar, and a touch of ginger. It brings a bright flavor, gut-friendly probiotics, and powerful antioxidants to your glass as you relax after a long day.

🧡Curry Kraut is guaranteed to be your next favorite ferment flavor! This is our first batch trying this recipe, and as we tasted it for the first time, everyone in the kitchen kept asking for more bites. It was hard to stop eating and get back to work!

💛Elderflower Cordial is an elegant & refreshing drink mixer that’s been a staple of the European countryside for centuries. Elderflowers have a tangy, unique floral flavor that we pair with lemons to a create sweet & irresistible cocktail or mocktail mixer.

Last video is for the real ones who know what time of year it’s about to be… oh yeah season is the best season!

Try some of these irresistible flavors yourself tomorrow at the Yancey County Farmer’s Market (and every Saturday) 8:30-12:30!

Happy belated summer solstice everyone!! We had a solstice party/campout to celebrate all that we’re doing at the farm. It was also a reunion of old friends to celebrate that I’ve been in Celo for 10 years now!

It was so fun to gather with new and old friends, dance our booties off, croon around the fire until far too late, dip in the beautiful river, hike to the Locust Creek waterfall, eat all day like hobbits, and bless the new building.

This party really shows the “why” of our farm: to bring people together and celebrate the earth. We are some lucky ducks to have such good community & beautiful land to celebrate with :)

And if you couldn’t make it this year, be sure to come next year! I have a feeling this may become a tradition…

Big thanks to Blue Ghost for rocking it Saturday night! 🎶 and THANKS to all the friends who came and made this happen!

Did you know that 5 of our retailers accept EBT??? Yes, and you could be using that taxpayer 💵 to invest in all these local businesses (and eat the yummiest in town)! All of these shops sell a TON of high quality, healthy, and local products that you just simply can’t find in the big box store.

The Yancey Market, TRACTOR, & the High Country Fold Hub also use Double Up Food Bucks which DOUBLES your EBT to support local producers, stretching your budget even further. Wow!!🤩

Honestly, getting approved to accept EBT is a huge administrative burden, so let’s show these businesses it was worth it and invest in them!

Please share this so it reaches the right people!

Thanks builder Nick for building this beautiful turkey roost 💚 I guess our commercial kitchen project is cancelled, and we’ll just let the locals keep it as a community gathering spot 😂

Grab some ferments at these great local stores on this rainy week. We are SO grateful to partner with them to get our products out in the community (almost) every day of the week!

Also, have you tried our new Ramp Nettle Kraut yet? Not pictured, but it’s available at all 3 places 😎

We are also now at Bakery in Bakersville!

Big thanks to United Carolinas Cavalry for investing in our work stewarding the land and feeding this community!

What an enormously busy week! We started a new field at our land this year to be our garden, and we planted the whole field in one day. I’m SO EXCITED about how the rye cover crop turned out. Planting each plant with instant mulch was SO satisfying.

We’re growing a mid of things for our family to eat and for fermenting: Tomatoes, peppers, hot peppers, butternut squash, potatoes (very late lol), carrots, sweet corn, and dry beans.

Planting, plus processing three HUNDRED lbs of gorgeous vegetables from and today. (That’s a real big kitchen day for us.)

and a couple late evenings this week at the farm dinner and the plant swap.

All fun stuff that we love doing, but boy am I wiped. That’s May for most farmers though. Thank your farmers, give them a hug, or better yet give them a foot rub! And thanks to all our helpers for lightening our load, esp our selfless friend Natalie :)
