For those that have been wondering….YES the rumors are true. We are NOT having an online heifer sale this fall. For the past 7 years we normally pull a string of babies to Nebraska State Fair-Open Show and everyone who walked by noticed that we did not have a group of babies there so it was obvious at that point. And the reason we are not is strictly because this year we had a lot of bulls, seriously only 3 heifers….just 3 that were born a single and not a twin to a bull 🫣 I keep joking that we could have a steer sale and we could take a Carload of bulls to Denver neither of which are going to happen lol 😂 so we will skip a year of having a heifer sale with hopes of being right back in it and have heifers available next year. Thank you all who have reached out and bought from us in our first 7 years of calf sales, we appreciate you all so much!

With that, we can’t wait to still see you all next month at the American Royal in Kansas City!

Meanwhile here in central Nebraska we are still looking really green and looking great for this time of year! So are the bull and steer calves 😂😉

Don’t forget Wednesday is the day. Appetizers & drinks in pen 520. Looks to be a beautiful day so swing through our pen for some meat, cheese & crackers, veggies, spinach artichoke dip, little smokies, popcorn and drinks then take some time to keep looking through the yards on a sunny day! Hope to see you tomorrow Noon-4pm!

As I ponder out my kitchen window this morning while getting coffee a few things come to mind…

1. We have been extremely dry with very little moisture so this was truly very welcomed.

2. Winter has finally hit at the end of December. It has been a mild one so far.

3. With the amount of fog days we have had this fall/winter so far….the spring should hopefully be wet! 🤞🏻 yes of course it would be nice if it was in the form of rain but we all know that won’t happen! 😬🫣

4. Our Denver pen of bulls was clean and looking good until the rain started yesterday morning and then it went to freezing drizzle and then to snow. And now they don’t look so clean. With hopes of having these boys looking pretty spiffy arriving in Denver….The weather forecast this next week does not look great for us to be able to have them looking perfectly s**c and span clean by the time we arrive. But these guys are not “show pampered” They weathered the storm just like all of our other bulls do. They will not be the heaviest pen of bull calves there and just because they are not does not mean that they are not good bulls, we just don’t get them extremely fat, extremely young there is no need for it truly! Be on the lookout for an announcement for an appetizer/hors d’oeuvres afternoon one day in Denver in our pen to come check out the bulls.

5. 2024 is coming to an end, it has been a year let’s just put it that. Many positives, some negatives and things that we are happy to be moving forward for and things we are happy to be leaving in our rearview mirror. Thank you to our customers this past year, it has been great and we look forward to moving into the spring bull sale season. Bulls will be for sale by private treaty only!

6. Bring on 2025, we hope you have a wonderful and prosperous new year and hope to visit with many of you throughout the year!

It’s Election Day, we got out and cast our vote, we hope you did too! It’s a couple days past our sale too so we would like to say Thank you to those that bid and bought on this young group of heifers this year! As well as those that stopped in to look!

Hey all! We’ve had a few people ask, “Don’t you normally have an open house on Saturday” for your sale and the answer is yes we normally do but this year with the way the calendar layed, we are NOT having an open house this Saturday, Nov. 2nd because it is the Nebraska Hereford Association Annual Member Meetings and Banquet so many of our friends as well as ourselves are going to try to be in attendance to those events.

With that being said our Ladies of the Sandhills Sale is on Sunday, Nov. 3rd, on Sunday we will have some food and those that have not looked yet that would like to do so are welcome to come check out the calves, we are NEVER going to “pressure” someone into looking at our offerings but if you want to you are always welcome here for a fast looking stop or a longer visit, everyone is welcome!

6 young heifer calves plus one steer

It is sale week for us here! We made it home safely from the American Royal in KC, we love getting to see and visit with fellow breeders and friends but boy are we tired. We will get all the pics we can from Next Level Images once they are able to get them all posted. But for the meantime, our highlight of the week was Khloe‘s showmanship success, she has worked so hard with Diva the heifer that is full of personality 😉 and I secretly think that we are all going to be sad when she is not in the barn. 😊

Here’s to Tuesday travel day. We leave for the American Royal today with a few of the sale heifers. Next two lots are 5 & 6. Lot 5 is a dark red April Horned and Lot 6 is the baby of the sale, a May Polled, this young girl was over our extreme winds on picture day and didn’t quite picture as good as she truly is. But videos will be coming soon when the sale gets posted!

Good Monday morning! It sprinkled a little bit here in Garfield County Nebraska just enough to make the air smell fresh but nothing more. But boy was that a welcomed smell.

Day 2 of sale calves: Lots 3 &4, these two are both out of first calf heifers and an Endure son we used from Brett Nelson to run on our heifers. Lots of pigment, style, moderate framed females and a full freckled face on Lot 4.
