New breed coming to the funny farm! Our Crele Penedesenca eggs hatched yesterday!! Crele Penedesenca are a rare breed known for their dark brown and terracotta egg colors.

They are also auto sexed at hatch. The females are born with darker, more chipmunk like stripes while the males are born much lighter in color. I put one of each in this photo to give you a good example.

Our hatch rate this fall has been great for chicks, however, our hatch rate for Roos has been impeccable, in the worst way. Our last hatch I think we’re at about 17 males/ 14 females. Looks like this hatch were at 5 males/ 5 females. That being said, If anyone is searching for some Roos that have the potential to provide great genetics to your ladies, let us know!

We are constantly learning. We rarely get it right the first time, but that’s what makes it so rewarding when it finally does work out. ❤️

The dedication, the research, the trial and error, and the commitment to do better the next time are what keep us going.

We may not always get it perfect, but we’re always learning, growing, and striving to do better. 🌱

Half Dozen Acres has a new look! 🤎

As our little homestead continues to grow and expand, we felt like our logo needed to grow with us. What started as a dream between two families has become so much more—and we’re just getting started! 🐓🐐🌾

New logo. Bigger dreams. Same two families, same heart. 🤎

Thank you for growing with us and supporting our journey. We can’t wait to show you what’s next! 🌱
