We made a quick girls trip to Alabama earlier this month to compete in the OneWorld Canine Obstacle Run! Amadeus and I accidentally locked it into beast mode and annihilated this course together! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿบ๏ฟผ

We were running, swimming, crawling, climbing and we physically pushed ourselves to give this course our very best effort! Holy moly, I hope to be running this course one day as well as the little old lady who no joke, blew past me with her 10 year old Malinois ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿซก๐Ÿ˜… I believe she completed the 5 mile Obstacle course in under 50 mins ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜‚

Our Florida teams consisted of trainer, Jennifer Yost with Amadeus (German Shepherd), trainer Cheyenne Mcbryan with Versace (Standard Poodle - Poodles by Cheyenne) and horse trainer Natalie Sciame with Ozzy (Cattle Dog mix) owner of NS Equestrian!

Last time we walked the course as a group, this time we individually pushed ourselves! I am so proud of us! Amadeus will be 8 years old this year. I donโ€™t know how many of these races I will have the privilege of running with him as my partner, but I will cherish every single one! We will be ready for the October race of 2026!!

๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ“ธThank you to C4 Pet Photography for capturing these amazing images and memories!!

๐Ÿผ๐ŸดThe very next day after baby #1 was born, our seasoned Mare, Mirage, started dripping milk. Her milk tested also at 6.2 so I knew baby #2 was on the way.

Her baby was born, he was quickly standing and nursing but mom failed to pass the placenta. (This is considered a medical emergency and requires Veterinary intervention) We contacted the vet and gave Oxytocin every 30 mins until the vet got here, but that placenta was securely attached. We spent a couple hours giving Oxytocin and flushing her uterus with water and betadine. FINALLY it came out ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Mirage is on a healthy dose of antibiotics. Since the vet had to come before the baby was 12 hours old, she left us with the IgG test to run later, so she didnโ€™t have to come back. At the 12 hour mark, I pulled blood, ran the test and this baby was also over 800! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅณ Which means, healthy baby!

I swear Mirage gave me a c**t and a retained placenta out of spite for running her at the fun rodeo last month while heavy pregnant ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚

Baby #1 was a textbook delivery out of our maiden mare Dahlia. She had her foal on her 8th Birthday ๐Ÿ˜ญโค๏ธ๐ŸŽ‚ The very same day I helped her mom deliver her into this world ๐Ÿ˜ญโค๏ธโค๏ธ
It doesnโ€™t get much more full circle than that ๐Ÿฅฐ

Earlier in the day I saw her dripping milk. I tested the milk PH and it was at 6.2 so I was pretty sure we were having the baby that night. Dahlia had an easy delivery, baby was trying to stand before his back legs were even born yet ๐Ÿคฃ

Dahliaโ€™s c**t was born at 9:08pm on May 18th. We did the 1-2-3 check list. (Stand within 1 hour, Nursing within 2 hours, Mare should pass placenta by 3 hours) Baby stood, passed meconium, nursed vigorously and mom passed the placenta.

The vet came for the newborn exam and to run an IgG test. Foals are born with no natural immunity. They must absorb antibodies from their motherโ€™s colostrum within their first 24 hours of life to survive. The IgG test is ran 12 hours after birth and measures the concentration of antibodies in a newborn foalโ€™s blood. Our new c**t had an IgG of over 800 so that means he passed the test!

After the first complicated foal of the season, I am so thrilled to have a healthy baby. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ
