VK Lamb Co.

VK Lamb Co. Show Lamb producer We are a Club Lamb Farm located in Bushnell, Fl. From there our oldest wanted to join in the fun by showing a breeding ewe.

We got our start in 2017 when our youngest son was able to show his first market wether in our county fair. His first year we borrowed a ewe from another breeder and from there he was hooked. By 2018 he had invested his market animal profits into a breeding flock of his own. He started with 2 ewes and a Ram. He won many jackpot and breeding ram titles with his Ram Rip Tide over his 4 years showing

. We now have a blossoming flock of 20 ewes and 3 rams. We provide show lambs to our local county kids, who much like my two were, are just getting started in their stock showing careers. Our goal is to continue to grow so we can branch out and provide lambs to to youth in other counties and eventually states as well. We have grown to completely love the sheep industry and providing quality stock for these young showmen.

The cute is precious😍, the playfulness is fun😀, moments that can bring so much joy 🥰 are what keeps you going and brings so much peace🕊. I love my long days in the 🐑 barn! But I am here to tell you there is nothing easy about raising livestock. This is not for the faint of heart. There are losses (so far 3 this season)😔, late nights🥱, downright rugged deliveries😰, and times when you aren't sure how any of them will survive😨. Yesterday was one of those days! We are so blessed with 5 new healthy babies 🐑! There is a fine line for success when you decide to jump in and help. I needed to pull 4 of the 5 lambs; 3 of them, and possibly their moms, would have been total losses if not. There were 3 bad leg placements, and one head turned back in combination with a narrow birth canal. From 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., I watched and worked with these 2 amazing ewes and their babies to bring them into this world alive. In the waiting (and there was so much waiting)🕒, I noticed the tiny ewe lamb born earlier in the day, and her mom was struggling with the nursing process🍼. So we worked together to get all those things going right. That precious tiny baby, her momma, and daddy are pictured below, catching one of those precious moments that makes all the struggle worth it.🙏🙏 our Heavenly Father continues to bless us and our herd. Amen!

Today we had some firsts. When I went out to check the heavy bred ewes, I had 2 ewes tending to 1 baby, the 1st first. I soon realized there were 3 babies between the 2 ewes. One was deceased, and one was barely alive with no one paying any attention to him. So I jumped into action and began drying and warming him. The ewes were more worried about the strong and loud baby over the weak one. So I brought him in to warm up, and I really didn't have much hope. He was floppy, stiff in his back legs, looked a little deformed, and completely pitiful. But God guided me! I got his temperature up, yet he just trembled and struggled to even hold up his head, or show any desire to eat. I grabbed the colostrum, syringe, and tube and completed my 2nd first, tube-feeding a lamb. I prayed and left him to rest. When I checked on him again, he was perky-eared, head up, on his sternum, and calling out. He still had not stood up yet. So I tubed him again, this time adding some extra boosting goodies. Shortly after that belly full, he stood up, much stronger and louder. I took him back to the barn to see how things would go. Success!!! Now I have 2 ewes being momma to 2 lambs, my 3rd first! I have no idea who really belongs to whom, and I don't even care. As long as both ewes get to be mommas and both babies get raised good, what more can I ask for?

It looks like our 2025-2026 breeding season has been a great success. Pregnancy tests are coming in positive and ewe bellies are getting large. We are so thankful for the blessing of our Jan 2025 ram Smoke Effect. We purchased him from Susan Pirtle and he is a son of Smokin Cowboy. To say we are excited to see these babies hit the ground in March is a complete understatement. Ready for a full barn!

This Thanksgiving, we are taking a moment to reflect on everything we are thankful for. Our hearts are full of gratitude for the life we live, the land we work, the people we share it with and the God we serve.
We are incredibly thankful for our flock—our lambs, ewes and rams—who are at the center of everything we do. We are grateful for the cycle of life they bring to the farm and project opportunities they provide for children.
We also want to extend a warm thank you to all of our customers, friends, and neighbors. Your support of local agriculture means the world to us. When you choose our lamb, you support our family farm and help us continue our way of life.
From our farm to your family, we wish you a bountiful harvest, cherished company, and a peaceful, happy Thanksgiving!
