One of our "Cypress Swamp Olive Eggers" as we say have been calling them until we settle on the best name has been showing out. Quite honestly, we're still in the very early stages of developing what we plan to be our showstopping green layers. We're highly selective about which birds will stay in our lines and which won't. We currently don't have any roosters in our olive pen, as we're solely focused on observing and obtaining a small group of unique layers to start working towards our goals. This gal was chosen out of a group of pullets, and we definitely aren't regretting our decision over here 😉.

Our clingy boy 💚. He's so smart he knows his nails don't hurt us though our jeans being he's been doing this since he was a kitten but he's aware he'll hurt us climbing our shirt so he's always so gentle 🥹. Y'all it's well overdue, we need a Cypress Swamp themed unique name for this special boy. As you can see he's a piece of the heart to our homestead so he deserves his moment too.

Crazy question of the night because i just thought about it a few hours ago and it's been driving me crazy since so i need answers. Has anyone ever cross bred a Cream Crested Legbar and Isabella Ameraucana? I've never herd of it or seen it, If so I need all the details 🙃. I feel like they would be crazy looking and their eggs would be beautiful! As for egg production, temperament, etc, I'm quite curious. I know if it could be done theres plenty with the results I just haven't been around enough to hear about it.

Anyone who has polish chickens knows this is like the love hate relationship they talk about when sending your baby to school for their first day. I wanted to get pictures of our splash laced gals crest when it was a fabulous teenage Mohawk and life caught me up for about 4 days, when I walked out to give everything a little tlc yesterday I took the chance to take a minute with her and y'all.... the friggin Mohawk dissappeared along with her eyes 😭🤣.

Good morning y'all, we hope everyone has a blessed, productive Monday. There is a question that we have to ask, be honest too... what does your kitchen window sill look like right now 🤔? If you're like us, that small space is treated as a storage unit for quite litteraly anything we have at the time to add a little pazazz to our kitchen 😆. No judgment here. Whether it's plants, eggs, books, oddities, etc., Show us your window sill decor !! We currently have some of the last summer color assortments from our poultry before we move to fall themes such as rich browns, reds, pine greens, etc., Along with that a black laced feather from one of our pullets and a freshly preserved possum skull from a barn we cleaned out on our other property.
