The last photo is from a year ago shortly after we sold our cattle and I started thinking about a wildflower meadow. Our upper pastures were not mown or grazed this year and while I didn't plant any wildflowers, they are coming in nicely all on there own. I am solarizing a small area to plant native seeds and will do so for years bringing in new species. The goldenrod is teeming with life right now, bees, wasps, flies and beetles. It is fascinating to stop and observe. Please don't mow your goldenrod.

These cool mornings are delightful. Fall is just around the corner. Tom keeps trying to put the moves on Sally... he hasn't got his seasons right but maybe he knows Thanksgiving happens in the Fall.

This little roo is in need of a home... he is a banty and if you are just starting out collecting chickens, I will include a lady friend.

Cooking class was so much fun today! We made zoodles and other yummy things. I started these classes to connect people to their food and to the land but it seems people show up more for the connection to one another and I love being able to offer that in my kitchen. Next class is September 18th, stay tuned for the menu!

Where has the summer gone? We harvested sweet corn this weekend and with Biscuit's help got it shucked and put in the freezer.

We have a large flock of cedar waxwings dining in our serviceberry bushes. The berries are only half ripe and I don't think they plan on saving any for us.

We decided to raise turkeys again this year. Dot is all about peeping birds and keeps a close eye on them. George is also keeping a close eye on them.

If you look closely at Dot's nose, there is a slug on it and she stuck it close enough for one of the turkeys to peck it off.
