Hi, I'm Nick Dekker, but you can call me Dr. Breakfast. (I really do.) I'm a food and travel writer based in central Ohio. I've been writing Breakfast With Nick since 2007, beginning first as a lowly breakfast blog and now expanding to explore food, drink, travel, family fun, the arts, and much more. You'll also find me writing for Columbus Monthly, Ohio Magazine, The Kitchn, TourismOhio, Cubby at Home, Experience Worthington, Experience Columbus, Worthington Spotlight and Great Lakes Publishing. It's been a while since we've had a meal that's stopped us in our tracks, but Terra Mezcal did just that. The Northland Mexican restaurant wowed us with mezcal cocktails, tacos, tres leches, and an amazing plate of mole enchiladas.

I'm jumping in again to say how much we've loved our visits to Amara Restaurant along The Scioto Mile! From the cocktails to many spreads, the entrees to the desserts, to the beautiful space and patios - we're pretty smitten.

I continue to stand by The Pancake House as one of our city’s top breakfasts. We paid them another visit yesterday morning: excellent carnitas benedict, chilaquiles, churro pancakes, and Oreo pancakes. Add to that a warm welcome and friendly service, and what’s not to love?!

The Nine offers a lovely little happy hour, 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. $6 martinis and Manhattans. $7 margaritas, daiquiris, and gimlets. $8 Old Fashioneds, w**e, spicy feta, hummus, cauliflower bites. For the martini fans: Beth says their vodka martini with ALL the blue cheese-stuffed olives inside of the best she’s had.

There's a new option for coffee and pastries on North Cassady in Bexley, the Bexley Coffee Co.! The owners revamped the old Bexley Coffee Shop space, brightening it up and adding more baked goods. We enjoyed the pumpkin croissant and The Lioness latte!

Bexley Coffee Co. revamped the shop on North Cassady, offering pour overs, espresso, house baked goods, and local beans.
