Rendezvous Acres

Rendezvous Acres Alpine Dairy Goats and assorted farm critters We are a small family farm nestled in the foothills of the PNW Coast Range.

My primary interest is registered Alpine Dairy Goats. We breed and raise goats with the goal of great health and conformation, for the purpose of milk and show. To that end we are an ADGA Plus herd and enjoy participating in the programs available to us. In addition we have all the usual farm critters: dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and Dexter cattle. Seasonally we raise a couple Tamworth hogs and turkeys.

Nitza x Rendezvous' Quincy - confirmed bred and due ~Jan 31st.
Quincy is a son of Legacy and Tempo Aquila MacFhionnlaigh (pedigree below).
Nitza's line is a more moderate, very dairy and slow developing line and Quincy has Legacy's size and structure - kids should strike a nice balance. PM if interested.
Quincy also got a bath during our beautiful late summer weather and was sold to a herd north of us in September.

Legacy x Colquitt's Mario Zeus - confirmed bred and due ~Jan 25th.
Last year I used Zeus on a 3/4 sister doe and really liked the kids. Brings Andretti back to the top (pedigree below). PM if interested.
Photos of Zeus were from late summer while I was leasing him and he got a bath. :-)

We are down to three does. Naomi got in the trailer yesterday to her new home in TN.
The least amount I have had since 2009. Strange, but super easy.
Jubilee will stay in milk thru the winter, but at just once a day.
Legacy and Nitza are confirmed bred and ALL goats tested negative for CAE.

RENDEZVOUS' NITZA 85VVVV
Shown here shortly after freshening as a yearling. Her line is slow maturing but they easily maintain extended lactations and look great into old age. Had a respectable first appraisal this summer (13m lactation) and I am looking forward to a second freshening.

RENDEZVOUS' LEGACY 90EEEE @ 4Y; 89VEVE @ 2Y
Legacy is the best goat (my opinion) I have ever bred - and a combination of all the lines I have worked with. She freshened beautifully and productively as a FF, solid LA scores (4y score was 7m into lactation) and I cannot wait to see how she continues to mature.

Alot of change in the past couple of months. Hanna had a great fair, placed well, participated in Master Showmanship and sold her market goat for good price.
All the kids from this season as well as yearlings from last have been sold and delivered to their new owners. Kezia has moved to Spokane and Naomi is sold pending transport to TN.
We will keep three of the mature does thru this next year. I thought they might move on, but circumstances changed and I like this - much easier way to transition for me. :-)
Jubilee is 6y, Legacy is 4y and Nitza is 2y. Legacy and Nitza are bred for end of January kids. Everyone is drying up a bit early except for Jubilee who will give winter milk for us and Hanna's market baby when he comes in January.
Hanna will do another year of 4H and has a nice set of does to use. I might even get out to a show or two if I can work it around travel.
So ultimately working in the right direction but a bit more gradual than I thought it would happen. :-)

My name is Hanna Townsend and I am participating in the Washington County 4H program. This year’s projects are dairy goats and a market goat to bring to fair and auction. I recently was also able to compete in the state archery competition. My market goat prospect was purchased as a week old kid in January and has been hand raised.
I have participated in 4H since six years old, starting in Cloverbuds with rabbits. As soon as I was able to, I participated in livestock with primarily dairy goats. In addition to agricultural hobbies, I enjoy working out (built my own home gym), archery, church and family time.
“Ivan” is a traditional Boer with a sweet personality. He has had steady growth and been easy to train and work with. I have been 100% responsible for his care, starting with bottle feeding four times a day when he was little to his current regimen of free choice alfalfa and water. His weight at the first weigh-in was 72 (4.5 months old) and a recent weighing at our vet was 93 # so he has gained appropriately and is within the market guidelines.
I am hoping to do well at the auction as I purchased and raised my goat with my own funds from working part time. The proceeds will go towards my first car which I hope to buy next spring.
There are several links below with more information for you as a potential buyer. Please take a few minutes to check them out. If you can support me either by attending the auction as a bidder or sending an add-on donation, I will appreciate it.
Thank you for your consideration and if you are at the fair, please come visit Ivan in the Banks Barn Busters section of the goat barn. 😊

Thankful that the three older does have found good herds to join. They were the ones I was most concerned about.
Jubilee and Legacy will go together to a small dairy that already has four of my goats, including Jubilee's dam. That should make the transition much easier for them, especially Jubilee as she is six years old.
Kezia is going to a show home in northern WA that has another goat of my breeding and her personality is strong enough that i am confident that even tho she is five, she will adjust just fine.
Emotionally when they all leave (next 2-3 weeks) that will be rough. But the two that I have left are both two year olds and if I keep them for another year, I am good with that. And it will help me with the adjustments as well. :-)
Again, my biggest concern and why I started this process now was to ensure good homes for the older does while they could still move successfully. I believe that has been accomplished. :-)

Updates in comments . . . As I sit here and think about the coming couple of years, I realize that the best thing for both me and the goats is to start finding them homes now while they are at the best ages for transitioning and I am not in a desperate situation.
In the next two years, we will have two college graduations (2024 and 2025) and a high school graduation (2025). The college graduations will involve trips to Florida. My mom recently moved to TX which means more travel. And hopefully between now and retirement, Jim will get his last sabbatical and we can go to New Zealand to visit daughter and family there.
None of this is conducive to breeding, freshening and properly raising young stock. So, with heavy heart, all the does are for sale. Each have their own strengths and purposes so I will be very selective in finding them the right homes. PM if interested.
In the meantime I will continue on, hoping to get to a few more shows this summer. Delivery will be available to Redmond on Thursday 20th to meet up with transport.
It has been a blast these past 14 years and I do not regret a minute. I have learned so much and only wish I had found dairy goats 10 years sooner. :-)
