WildKat Homestead & Hatchery

Directions

WildKat Homestead & Hatchery WildKat Homestead & Hatchery was created in honor of my late mother in-law, Kathy. She loved her family and was a proud Eastern Kentucky native.

Located in SE Ohio, we are a small homestead providing fresh eggs, hatching eggs and newly hatched chicks.

Yesterday I was being careless in my kitchen and my cup got broken. This had become my favorite coffee cup. I’m not a super sentimental person when it comes to objects, but this meant something 💔

My sweet little granddaughter, Lylah, and my bonus girl, Katie gave me a cute little gift that will be well used 🩷🐓

Crested Polish have joined the homestead. These little chicks are about 11 weeks old and so fun to watch. They are so skittish and definitely don’t like being caught, but once they are being held I’m convinced they love it 🤔😬🤣❤️🐓

Fresh, unwashed

Homesteading and chickens can be challenging. We went through several months of broody chickens that were eating eggs and hens that would only use specific nesting boxes. This caused hairline cracks in shells from chicks stepping on already full boxes.
We have since changed our coop and added roll away nesting boxes. Now if we could just get over this heat!

Posting just because…CHICKENS…why not 🤔😂

I honestly have zero cares if a chick is a cockerel or pullet (I will be keeping them either way), but why do 3 of my crested polish give off cockerel vibes. I will have to find separate sleeping quarters for the boys 🤣

And these six silkies are so fluffy and cute 🥰
