Theses are not cow pictures! This is just a friendly reminder that THE FARM STAND IS CLOSED TODAY. I had it covered for the days we were going to be gone, but after judging the fair on Thursday we decided to spend 1 day sightseeing in the U.P. before heading back. Paul broke his own rule yesterday and got on something he couldn’t walk away from should it crash.😊

Nope. We are not in the barn today. We are getting ready to spend the day at the U.P. State Fair. We are officially announcing that THE FARM STAND WILL BE CLOSED ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 22. The original plan was to drive up Wednesday and drive back Friday, but we’re no going to play tourist for a day. We’re sorry for the short notice.

While I’m happy for Dave and Dee, this means summer is almost gone. Stop in and see them soon…and then again and again! They have so many great varieties and u-pick as fall progresses.

We will open tomorrow at 10:00 with Zestar and Sweet MAIA apples, our first apples of the season. Our season will end in Late October/ Early November with Evercrisp, Our personal favorite, which has a wonderful crop on the trees this year. See you soon!

Beware. Those egg whites listed on the label could be just more added sugar.** Unbelievable! Here’s another reason to buy local.

**I didn’t have time to fact check this, but this is a page I follow and I trust her to report facts.

The "egg" is made by synthetically printing a copy of the chicken gene for egg white protein. the gene is inserted into yeast, where it becomes a part of the yeast's DNA.
the yeast is sealed in a large steel tank called a bioreactor & fed sugar. it multiplies endlessly on its own - every new cell carries the chicken gene. Weeks later, the yeast is filtered out. what's left is dried into powder and sold as "egg white protein."
