First off I just want to shout out Duncan Family Farms !! We got some of our sheep from them, they source our hay for the sheep and rabbits and now they are our milk hook up! We have had such a welcoming experience with them, highly highly recommend checking out their farm 🐄🌱🐑
They are so giving and had an abundance of milk this week so they were offering extra for free!!! Of course I said heck yessssss and here’s what we’re doing with it- Making yogurt, butter out of the cream because there was such a THICK cream line, using the buttermilk to make ranch and marinate our homegrown rabbit for dinner. How cool! Plus check out the cute sticker 😎

Honey just got spayed and is hanging out with us in the house for a bit to recover… which she is not a huge fan of and desperately wants out all of the time. But she has found comfort in my cubby…. So in the cubby she shall sleep 😴

Hey all! I figured I’d drop in an introduce us again since it’s been a while and I’ve gotten some new followers. We’re almost to 500 followers!!! Which ik ik not a huge deal… but I’m excited and each of you here means a lot to us!!! We mostly neglect this page but I plan to be better about posting and updates going forward.

Anywhooo- I’m Erika, and let’s be real, CAA wouldn’t be possible with out my amazing hubs, Steve! He’s the muscle behind any and every crazy idea I come up with 🤪 We have lived on this beautiful chunk of land since 2021 and grow more and more each year. I call it “first generation farming” because well, even though our production is small scale, we both came from the city. No family farm that we have learned from; Just him and I diving into projects, learning on the way and becoming more efficient as we go. All while working and raising our two beautiful children!!

The goal is to be as self sufficient as possible and utilize the land we were blessed with. Hunting foraging, gardening, larger scale crops like corn and hay are in the works and of course, my favorite part, the animals! We have chickens, turkey, sheep, rabbits, two dogs and barn kitties. Oh and now 2 guinea pigs for our oldest kiddo. The English lops are mostly just a fun project for me but everything has its purpose be it showing the elops, fruit/veggies, food for the livestock, meat, eggs, compost, wool, a dog to protect them all and cats to manage critters- and we’re thankful for all of it.

If you got though all of this, THANK YOU! We truly appreciate you being here along for the ride and the support! Keep following along for more- garden is in the works, some elop litters, and lambing in the fall just to name a few!!!

& happy Mother’s Day to all those mammas out there!

Just a girl and her dog ♥️ The bond I have with this dog is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Of course I love all of my animals but with my Honey… it’s just different!

Despite being “exposed” to all sorts of livestock, training her to be a true live stock guardian dog, has been nothing short of challenging and a huge learning curve for both of us.

When we got Honey at 9 months old she didn’t know her name let alone a simple command like sit. I’ve spend countless hours training her (& myself) and we’re still learning and improving everyday. But a dog who once accidentally unalived a handfull of chickens trying to play, now watches them hop in her dog house one by one to snuggle in with her.

I can’t wait to see what else we are capable of together! 🫶
