CAA is a small hobby farm est. 2021. We raise Elop & NZ rabbits, chickens, sheep and turkey! Trying our hand at gardening and preserving foods.

We got pigs!!! 🐷 believe it or not, it was all Steve’s idea this time! They are already doing their job and rooting around the pasture. Hog tractor made by hubs, of course! 😁

Our corn field didn’t go so well (again) this year. Hubs planted a neighbors field and luckily theirs did amazing and they let us pick as much as we wanted! I canned up 12 jars and froze the rest totaling to be 50 cups of corn! 🌽

We have an idea to help till and add nutrients back to the cornfield naturally… Can you guess what little friends will be rooting around in there come this weekend?!

Life has been busy, the garden has been under attack and absolutely not thriving due to all of the pests, weeds, and honestly… lack of time. But I am grateful for what we have been able to harvest!!! The elderberry’s bring me the most excitement and have actually blessed us with a good harvest to get the family through the winter. We are learning something new every year in this beautiful garden. Next year will be more carefully thought out, more plentiful and surly will bring many more lessons to learn.

13 weeks ➡️15 weeks ➡️ 16 weeks ➡️ 17 weeks
The large water bowl wasn’t cutting it anymore, Bear needs a water trough to cool off now. He’s gained 10 lbs in 3 weeks making him alllllmost 40 lbs… at 17 weeks old 🤯 I can’t wait to see him try to fit in this trough in a few months 🤣

Here’s a quick garden tour!!! I can’t wait until it’s full and beautiful! 🤩 still have a few things that need to be planted and want to lay some mulch down…. but we are 95% done! Happy gardening!👩🏻‍🌾 🌱🪏

Just a girl and her dog ♥️ The bond I have with this dog is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Of course I love all of my animals but with my Honey… it’s just different!

Despite being “exposed” to all sorts of livestock, training her to be a true live stock guardian dog, has been nothing short of challenging and a huge learning curve for both of us.

When we got Honey at 9 months old she didn’t know her name let alone a simple command like sit. I’ve spend countless hours training her (& myself) and we’re still learning and improving everyday. But a dog who once accidentally unalived a handfull of chickens trying to play, now watches them hop in her dog house one by one to snuggle in with her.

I can’t wait to see what else we are capable of together! 🫶
