Our Fusion - a fine blend of her family with his, military life and building the farm, the love for our animals and our land and the insanity of it all. Fusion Farms meshes a little of naturally grown this, a little of pasture raised that, creating a whole lot of spoiled critters that run the place. Although we are starting our farm with our goat herd, our vision is to have an Natural Micro Dairy, farm fresh herbs & vegetables and pasture raised chickens & eggs.

What a difference a week makes. These guys have sure grown. (They were hatched May 4th & 5th.)

The birds are turned out into a stall in the barn during the day. Their brooders are stripped, cleaned and allowed to dry. Then I round them up at dinner time and put them back in the brooders for night.

Sorry it’s upside down. We split up the chicks from the ducklings yesterday. The ducks we just getting too rowdy and would trample the much quieter chicks. These are probably the calmest birds we’ve had.

This is a Golden 300 duckling. She is a cross of a couple different good laying duck breeds.

The 300 is the approximate number of eggs a year they will lay.

The best chicken laying breed will lay approximately 280 eggs.

Feed conversion to egg weight to quantity of eggs, these ducks win over chickens hands down. With a bonus of having a calm disposition, we’re giving these girls a go.
