Our counter has fresh veggies and calf care medicine on it! 😜

Errands often include all the things and the grain company. Thankfully our grain company has clothes too. Makes it even more fun to do a quick run through and find a new outfit!

Bryan and I were talking about how expensive calf care. It’s like having 24 children and having to manage all their unique needs.

Our calves are the foundation of our herd and we are so grateful for our little babes. No matter how intense they are.

AI - gosh it’s so annoying!

This pic is the result of a video we posted a week ago. Our tractor burned to the ground one night back in Nov 2025.

We were watching to see how long it would take for someone to accuse it of being AI. Good or bad, it took about a week. The video has reached beyond the USA 🇺🇸 and these men were no from MI. They don’t know us. So they have no bases to know our character.

We assure you, that night felt nothing but real for us.

AI. It is coming to most all parts of the world. We even are watching it grow in farming!

We are a robotic farm. Robots are being scooped up into the AI world and here we are on the fast moving stream of a new revolution!

Our only hope is that we as a nation stay grounded in new era. Sure embrace technology and learn to master it, but let’s not forget that we are humans, with limitations and whether we like it or not, we have a creator that holds us all in his hands.

Social media has had people advocate to cut less grass, let all things grow.

That’s one way to do it and in the appropriate places, it is really beneficial.

Dairy farms are a different story. Often times farms cut lots of grass. Keeping weeds down and blades of grass short help with a few major components of farming.

1) The milk inspector stays happy! Nobody likes a salty milk inspector. Did you know that if the grass around buildings are not kept short it will be counted against the farmer? Too many points against the farmer and you loose your license to ship milk.

2) To keep the rodent population down on the farm. Mice are the worst! IMHO. Milk inspectors ask for short grass because it keeps rodents at bay!

3) If the weeds get too high near the barn they can interfere with the curtains that are on the barn. Curtains are the “walls” of the barn and we are fortunate enough to have some that are temperature controlled. Weeds can disable these real fast.

So you see, don’t cut your lawn, we aren’t here to judge, but we will cut our lawn and lots of it! Plus it’s one of the best jobs on the farm!

Like father, like son.

You would think with new technology these guys would find a better way to stack hay, but if you sat and listened they talked the whole time. This was a time they both enjoyed, it was easy to see.

They talked milk price and this year’s crop, they talked about days of old and dreamed of new possibilities on the farm together.

Bryan and his dad Bill don’t get a ton of time together so they take advantage while they can.

Often times Bryan uses his dad’s perspective as a sounding board, a foundation as he thinks through the farms next steps.

These are the kinds of memories that legacies are made of!
