Memorial Weekend 2026 at Exit 180 Farm 🌱🌸
This weekend at Exit 180 Farm, while planting rows and rows of flowers for the 2026 growing season, Jim and I found ourselves reflecting on what Memorial Day truly means. As veterans, this weekend carries a deep sense of gratitude and remembrance for those who gave everything while serving. We are humbled by the freedoms we enjoy and thankful to live, work and FARM here in the USA. ❤️🤍💙
This year, I decided to participate in growing at the farm, and I’ve happily claimed the “fill flower” role. 🌸 Farmer Jim will continue with his beautiful dahlia showcase!
This year’s zinnia rows are going to be something special. 💕
The “romantic” section features varieties like:
🌸 Victorian Wedding
🌸 Peaches & Cream
🌸 Blushing Bride
🌸 Zinderella
🌸 Cupcake
…and many more dreamy blooms.
Another section is dedicated to the bold giant varieties that absolutely command attention in the field.
And of course… the ever-beautiful Oklahoma Pink zinnias — my all-time favorite. There’s just something about them that never gets old. 🌸
One of my favorite moments this week was looking at a tiny little zinnia seedling in the grow room and thinking… it’s hard to imagine how many beautiful blooms can come from one tiny seed. How something so small can bring so much joy, beauty, and peace to our little window o

Rhubarb Crazy!!!

🤔 Wait… is Exit 180 Farm a Christmas tree & flower farm… or are we becoming a RHUBARB FARM now?! 😂🌱

Farmer Jim has officially gone rhubarb crazy. We now have 20 plants growing 😳 and if you know rhubarb… you KNOW. I’m guessing this might be enough for about 100 families! 😂

Won’t be long and it’ll be headed to the farm stand. ❤️ Rhubarb always reminds me of my beloved Grandma Dishman. I still make her rhubarb custard pie recipe, which she told me was actually her mother’s recipe (Grandmother Boltz). The recipe is more than 100 years old! I use the rolling pin I inherited from my mother — known to many of you as Grandma Donna! That means I’m the FOURTH generation that I know of making rhubarb pies with this rolling pin. 🥧 Such sweet memories every time I bake.

I’m looking forward to sharing this year’s rhubarb journey and all the delicious things we decide to make with it!

2026 Growing Season Begins at Exit 180 Farm
Out here at Ransom’s Exit 180 Farm in Cadillac, MI 2026 is all about beautification!!!
Here are a few exciting changes:
🌸 Our dahlias are getting an upgrade!
Many will now be growing in individual grow bags, helping us build toward something new…
👉 Dahlia tubers coming in 2027!

🌾 We’re also dedicating an entire field to
filler flowers and greenery — all those beautiful textures that bring bouquets to life.

We will be showcasing "Romantic" Zinna varieties such as Peaches and Cream, Blushing Bride, and Floret Farm's amazing Victorian Wedding!!! Also, some bold and beautiful Zinnia stems like; Cupcake, and Benary Giants in shades of lavender, pink and purple!

We’re just getting started and can't possibly show all that is going on in one post, we’d love to have you follow along as the season unfolds. There’s a lot of beauty coming. 💛
