Heirloom Recipe Society I’m new here, but I’m working to add recipes daily. I’ve been collecting cookbooks for years and want to share the best.

I live on my family farm that’s seen at least 9 generations. ❤️

Goal: Preserving traditions for future generations.

If our family is gathered around the table, you can count on somebody bringing corn casserole. It’s the one thing everyone loves. My recipe is a little different, but it’s still super easy.

Mississippi Pot Roast is a little different from my grandmother’s classic roast recipe. It has that same tender, slow-cooked goodness, but the pepperoncini and seasoning give it a tangy, savory twist. A familiar southern recipe with a whole new personality.

Smoked Mullet Dip

Don’t waste your money buying expensive smoked mullet dip in a restaurant. It’s so easy to make. This recipe is completely customizable. Just include the basics and you can change up any of the seasonings to your preference. I like onions and jalapeños in mine, but some of my family members prefer a smoother spread with dried onion flakes. Make it how you like it. It’s so easy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Look for my post on smoked mullet.

Smoked Mullet

Mullet is always in season, but the Fall is roe lovers favorite time of the year. Take the time to smoke some mullet. It’s a great pastime when you have folks just sitting around, relaxing. And the fruit of your labor is quite a reward. I am also posting a recipe for smoked mullet dip. There’s no better way to entertain your friends than by temping their tastebuds.

I find it easier to smoke a lot of mullet at one time. You can pick it off the bone and freeze it for making smoked mullet dip later on.

Did you know you can feed an entire family with a few leftovers? I love to make quesadillas when I have a just little meat left over. This is fajita filling from my dinner last night, but you can use a small piece of steak, a pork chop, or a piece of chicken. Use what you have. Use what you like. Any meat, any vegetables, any cheese. If you don’t like sour cream leave it out. If you don’t have taco seasoning, use something different. Make it your own. I used low carb tortillas so that’s a bonus. 🤗

1. Cut up your toppings.
2. Season your sour cream.
3. Spread sour cream mixture on entire tortilla. Place topping on half of tortilla.
4. Sprinkle on shredded cheese. Fold.
5. Spray oil directly on tortilla.
6. Pan fry on both sides until golden and crispy. Cut in half and enjoy.

Y’all.. I gave my porch a glow-up with these pillow covers. This outdoor furniture set is about 15 years old. They sure made a big difference for cheap. I just thought I would share.

The block print pillows with the piping that I ordered are 18” square. They are so nice. 🩵

I’m putting the Amazon affiliate links for the pillow covers and inserts in the comments.

❤️Chafing Dish Meatballs

If you’ve ever attended a holiday party or baby shower, chances are there was a crockpot of cocktail meatballs bubbling away in the corner. The magic ingredient? Grape jelly! Mixed with chili sauce, it creates a sweet-and-savory glaze that keeps everyone coming back for ‘just one more.’ This vintage recipe includes directions for making your own meatballs and browning them in a pan, which would definitely add more flavor. Some recipes never go out of style.

❤️ Salmon Mousse

Y’all… who remembers Salmon Mousse? It was one of those classic party foods that seemed to be on every buffet table in the 1970s and 1980s. My mother even made it as her contribution to a friend’s wedding celebration. Molded into decorative fish shapes and served with crackers, it was the height of entertaining elegance. While gelatin-based molds have fallen out of fashion, the flavors are still just as delicious today.

This retro favorite deserves a comeback. For a modern twist, skip the gelatin altogether and serve the salmon mixture as a creamy spread as part of a charcuterie board. Surrounded by crackers, cheeses, olives, fruit, and cured meats, it becomes a nostalgic centerpiece that feels perfectly at home at today’s gatherings. Sometimes the best recipes aren’t new, they’re simply waiting to be rediscovered.
