We said a hard good-bye to some more of our herd members recently. Sugar Dream Acres Giggles and Sugar Dream Acres Monty both went to a loving home where they will get lots of attention from three sweet kids. Giggles will also get to be hand milked and will get some extra love on the milkstand. Knowing these things made it a little easier to see them headed down our driveway to join a new herd with the Thom family.

Giggles is our stunning silver roan first freshener with a big personality. She had triplets this year. The gorgeous buckling is from Tamris Farms RR Bail Organa and CA Blackberry’s Marmorkuchen. He and his brother are the tallest and longest kids of our 2026 crop and will definitely bring some milk production to his kids.

As always Grace enjoyed her time making new friends and showing everyone around the goat barn. Sugar Dream Acres Nubians is wishing this special family good luck with the addition of their first Nubians to their established herd.

Recently our area of Nebraska has been blessed with some much needed rainfall which means our pasture finally started greening up and growing. With that being said, we decided it was time to let the milkers out of their pens to enjoy some of the green stuff. Let me tell you, the does couldn’t have been happier to not only indulge in the fresh vegetation but also to lay in the shade of the trees.

Every year we have followers reach out asking if we have any roan, specifically light silver roan, goats available. This year we only had one solid silver kid out of 35 born this year. Recently we had another great goat family visit our farm to pick up their future junior herd sire. The buckling the Cogar’s chose is full of swirls and different shades of brown and chocolate. His solid brown ears made his look extra special. He was a buckling that received many comments when we posted pictures of him. His dam is Sugar Dream Acres Viva and his sire is CA Blackberry’s Marmorkuchen.

Jason, Tina, Lizzy and John are owners of the Klitter Meadows herd. This family is not only a 4-H family who enjoy showing goats but they are also busy making soaps and other things with their goat milk.

Grace enjoyed some playtime with Lizzy and John and making more goat friends. Sugar Dream Acres Nubians appreciates their business and wishes them many healthy kids from this gorgeous guy.

Some goats just don’t make the tattooing process easy. This is the same buckling who managed to get the bucket handle stuck around his neck with his buddy a few days ago. Cowboy Andy leaves on Monday for his new home in Minnesota. I warned his new owner of his ornery personality and to be ready for some silly shenanigans to take place on his farm with him around. Deep down Grace and I will probably end up missing his crazy bottle feedings and his loud voice that fills the barn.

I have found that although I love all my goats dearly, keeping herd numbers manageable is the best thing I can do for me, my family, and the goats. So although it makes me sad to send some of our milkers off to new homes, I know it is a necessity.

We are offering these five milkers to the individuals on our reservation list and then to our Facebook followers. Priority given to those customers who have bought bucks from us or are taking milkers in pairs. If you are interested in more information or being added to our future milker reservation list please private message.

Pictured are three first fresheners who are two years old and two four year olds who freshened for the third time this spring. All are purebred and registered. We are a clean tested herd with our last test completed in January 2026. We are located in Cairo, Nebraska and can help arrange transports.

This picture is bittersweet. It is all six of our first fresheners that I love so. They are a wonderful set of first time mamas but soon we will be saying good-bye to a few of them as we work on keeping our herd numbers in check.

There is something about homegrown kids turned into does that is so special. We have been there for their birth, watched them develop into beautiful yearlings and eventually stand by their side as they have kids of their own. They make us proud. ❤️🥰

Grace’s cat recently had five kittens. Today one of them was asking Sweetie Pie how to get on the milk string or maybe she was just thanking her for the delicious milk she gets to sample each day.
