Good morning from the homestead! 🌅🐴🐄

There’s something pretty special about a quiet morning, a little fog, and the animals out enjoying the pasture. ❤️ A peaceful reminder to slow down, take it all in, and be thankful for another beautiful day.

One of our hens will be quarantined to the garage for a few days to recover. I know she has a sour crop and possibly egg bound. I emptied her crop and hoping a couple Epsom salt baths will get her in the mend! Right now she’s getting some apple cider vinegar water and rest❤️

Once they’re gone, prices return to $3/dozen, so now is the time to stock up!

We have a name! Meet Wellington, our newest little star! As part of our tradition, we name all our bull calves after beef dishes, and Wellington is no exception! We’ll pour care, time, and love into him, and we”ll know every step he takes here. In about two years, he’ll help feed our family, and he’ll be so well-loved along the way. Welcome to the crew, Wellington!

🚨 Calf Watch 2026 Update 🚨

At exactly 4:17 PM today, Brownie welcomed her second calf into the world—a healthy bull calf! 🐄💙

This little guy came out ready to get to work. He was up on his feet in record time and already trying to find the milk bar. 🥛

For only being Brownie’s second calf, she looks like she’s got this whole motherhood thing figured out.

Now we’re faced with the toughest job of the day… picking a name! 🤔
