Our day jobs feed our animals but it sure is hard to leave the farm some mornings when I would rather enjoy moments like this. Thunder, Autumn and Sargent are the best and never cease to entertain. We are so grateful to have them.

We keep Sargent on a leash when we are near our big animals. We need to protect him from himself and them should he get a wild hair and make bad choices. Plus, he’s a fast little guy and we are past our ‘run fast to catch a puppy’ years.

This sums up Maremma Sheepdogs pretty well! They listen to you, just decide if they are busy doing their own thing before they consider your request. But…dang is he handsome!

We keep Sargent close as he learns about the farm. I don’t think he wanted to talk about his accidental dip in the water. 💦 😆

Sargent is in training everyday in big and little ways. Learning to be a responsible livestock guardian dog is so important. We play a lot and we also teach, praise and love.

Summertime heat and Sargent is the only animal (aside from the ducks) who are happy as can be in the sprinklers. We can’t get enough. We love watching all of our animals…and we’ve been binge watching the Sargent Show. 😆

Sometimes we train him and sometimes he trains himself. Haha. Never a dull moment.

Sargent loves playing in water. He is also a professional water dumper. Inside, outside, in the barn. He’s perfected his technique.
