These pups are one week old today, their noses are turning black, they are growing like crazy, just little chunks. They will be registered in a few days.

Introducing our "Fall Harvest" litter. We have three females and two males.

Parents are both G2's
WFF Stormborn Avalanche of HELD
MAR Cleon of HELD

Dam is doing an amazing job raising up her first litter and their Sire likewise amazing! He barks as loud as he can overriding any noises the pups make, deterring predators. Storm and Cleo have made the best team when it comes to predators especially coyotes. Storm trusts Cleo completely and like any of our breeding "firsts" they are quite the experiences to witness. I just love LGD's, specifically our CMD's! ๐Ÿ’›

So without further ado, enjoy these sweet little baby faces because they are going to grow up fast!

Oh these sweet babies, I can't wait to share their photos with you tomorrow!

We said goodbye to our beautiful Mocha girl today, one of our three OG does. She came here with her sister Choco and our herd Queen Marshy in 2018 as babies. They were our original herd, Bucks (our GP) original herd. Its been a tough year for Mocha. She was only 8 years old. She gave birth to 18 babies during her time with us, some of sweetest babies ever, the majority being bucks. She was my best milker. She will definitely be missed around here!

Subsidies don't support small farmers. Neither do backyard egg sales to "help pay the feed bill".
Stop playing homestead and start running a homestead. if you're going to sell, treat yourself like a business not a charity. Hobby egg sales harm your local farmers and local economy.

Seems harsh? Okay hear me out for a second. This may seem harmless, but it literally shoots your local farmer in the foot. You're doing what subsidization does at the grocery store by teaching people that eggs should be cheap. Meat should be cheap. Then our local farmers can't make a living wage when they try to sell their eggs (or meat) for what they're really worth at markets, being constantly told that "that's too expensive". This in turn discourages the farmer who has to make a living to feed his or her own family and is one reason why we're losing farmers every year. This is exactly the same scenario you see in the beef industry right now. Foreign beef won't fix it. Supporting local farmers will.

Read the full free blog post here & find out the two lies that keep farmers small, irrelevant & broke and our role in that scenario....

Storm has been the mothering type for a long time, long before she ever had the chance to raise puppies of her own. She loves all babies!
She has carried that identity quietly, faithfully, through loss, through waiting, through years of being ready even when life wasnโ€™t. She lost her first litter of three in 2024. This litter she had six, but sadly we lost the smallest boy pup (blue collar) born at only 8.8 ounces, he was a strong little guy during his time here and was kept comfortable. Storm cuddled him up under her head until she let me take him. It was sad but also very soft-hearted, unlike any other farm loss I have experienced. The rest of the litter is thriving and mom is doing great!

I never doubted that Storm would be an attentive, calm, gentle and devoted mom when her moment finally came. She is so full of love. This will be the only litter she will raise. It's beautiful, they are beautiful! More photos coming soon.
For now, weโ€™re just soaking it all in. ๐Ÿ’›
