Folks probably don’t realize we are struggling a bit with the current cattle market. There is a shortage on cattle. The market is good and the prices at auction are high. This is great for ranchers and we love that. The issue for us is there are less ranchers taking the time and expense of feeding/finishing steers for selling shares direct to market. It also makes it much more expensive for us to purchase finished steers. We don’t blame the ranchers for making the best economic choices for their operations. The majority of our business is custom processing for local ranchers. It’s something we are really proud of. We are here for the ranchers that want to sell their beef directly to the community.

We are rancher owned business so we understand the swings in the market and will always do our best to be a resource for the industry.

In slow times like these we have to focus on our other enterprises like sausage making, hog processing, and specialty meats. Come visit us! Get some hand cut steaks. Shop our store. Buy a half or whole pig…. Or a half or quarter beef!

We are off the beaten path so our little store doesn’t get a lot of traffic. We are just a mile off I-20 exit 101 Calhoun…. just go south and you will run into our shop right across the railroad tracks. We are open weekdays eight to five and Saturdays nine to three.

Beef TALLOW and pork LARD back in stock !

We’ve had some extra time lately and made some batches of lard and tallow! The lard is made from the back fat of pasture raised non-gmo fed pigs raised by our sister company Mahaffey Farms. $12.49/qt The beef tallow is from beef we sourced from ranchers right here in North Louisiana. No hormones or antibiotics, raised on pastures and finished on grain. $19.79/qt.

Rendered beef tallow is perfect for high-heat cooking, roasting, and adding rich depth to everyday meals.

Rendered pork lard creates flaky pie crusts, crispy fried foods, and traditional baked goods.

Get the seed oils out of your diet! Grab these cooking fats while they’re available.

Watch out for SHRINKFLATION!

We had a customer tell us our price on ground bison was higher than the big national brand. Well, actually, no. Sorry folks but sometimes we have to point out when the big brands are manipulating public perceptions.

We sell by the 1 POUND package 16 ounces! We have a really nice vacuum stuffing machine that ensures our packages give our customer exactly what we advertise. One of the big national brands sells in a 14 oz. package designed to give the impression of one pound. So, if you compare our price per package they may appear to be “cheaper”. But check the ounces! Do the math per ounce and we come out to be the BETTER VALUE ! I’m not gonna show the math in this Facebook post because some stores have different prices but in all the stores we have checked, our bison is the better value by far. Please don’t let them trick you! Buy from honest local farmers when you can!

GET YOUR FREEZER FILLED FAST !

Folks, we’ve had a very busy spring and early summer, but now our processing schedule is finally relaxed. For the next couple months we are accepting cattle and pigs for processing with VERY short wait times! Call today and we can schedule your beef or pigs within the next few days!

We charge $1.30/lb on the hanging weight with $100 kill fee. This is for 14 day hang time and all vacuum packed and cut to your exact specifications for beef. For pigs it’s $1.30/lb and $50 kill fee… we can make smoked bacon, hocks, neck bones, and lots of different fresh and smoked sausages. There are small fees for smoked pork products. Call for details and scheduling.

If you are interested in inspected private label processing for your farm business we can handle that for you too!
