FINALLY GOT OUR PROCESSED STEER BACK! Woo Hoo!!!! 850 lbs hanging weight. We already have half sold. We are keeping a quarter ourselves (about 125 lbs), Anyone interested in some beef should contact us. We don't have another processing date until April 2021 (the processors are overwhelmed).

Been feeding my cattle alfalfa cubes about 1 to 2 times a week. They are CRAZY about them. I came up with that idea myself because I didn't want to feed them anything but grass. The bottom line is that producers should feed some alfalfa.

Got our packages home and now have to sort and store beef in freezers. And yes, more beef than freezer space. Fortunately we had an additional (2) 7 cubic foot freezers. It took nearly 40 cubic feet of freezers to pack.
Ever wonder what 1,000 lbs of beef look like? We picked up our beef from the processor today. 2 steers, one 588lb and the other 767lb hanging weight. The first thing they asked was if we thought that it would fit in the van?

Another new pasture today. This was a middle pasture that is next to the catch pen and the water. I stretched out the pen into a fence and let this grow back for about a month. Lots of rain and cow manure really kicked this grass into high gear.
September grass - still knee high. Intensive rotational grazing and no chemicals produces this highly diverse pasture of clovers, a variety of grasses, and other forages that is more drought tolerant and disease resistant. My old horse and his companion have not been able to eat their pasture down very evenly - actually too much grass for them. So they got some help today...
They will be back on their regular rotation after they have evened out the grazing. In the meantime, they are all getting along great!
