Fresh eggs tomorrow at the office! (If we don't sell out they're available every weekday.)

Will y'all please help us spread the word?๐Ÿ’›

Also, the boys have been doing some of their school work for a few weeks, but we're full steam ahead now. We had our official "first day" the day after Labor Day. Time goes by so quickly. It won't be long before they're back in the fields again. For now we're really enjoying the season we're in. ๐ŸŽโœ๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿงฎ

How do we begin to thank you all for the wonderful summer you've helped us have? You showed up and supported these boys and this small business. We thank God for all of you. Many have asked how we feel about the season ending. Bittersweet is the best way to describe it. We push so hard for many weeks. We are all very tired. And yet, tonight, when thinking of the season truly being over we teared up. I think it's a mix of feeling like we accomplished something really hard and being proud of that something; along with missing all the sweet customers whose faces we've been getting to see week after week. Thank you all. We'll miss you. See you next summer!โค

Keep an eye out for future posts. For instance, we're pretty sure Grandmama will be offering fresh eggs one day a week.

Only one day left. ๐Ÿฅฒ Y'all have helped us to have a wonderful summer. You have showed up and supported these local farmers. We can't thank you enough. We'll miss you all. We always do, but this year feels different. Maybe it's just the passage of all these years now, combined with the fact that so many of you have been with us from the beginning. You've watched these boys grow up. In a way you've played a role raising them. You've helped us, as a family, teach them the lessons we're hoping they'll carry with them through life.

Come on out tomorrow to help us say goodbye to summer 2021. The boys have worked hard to wring every last drop of produce out of the fields for tomorrow.

I didn't intentionally save this last Hall Brothers worker for last, but it seems appropriate that it worked out that way. Papa, or Ron, is the engine behind this machine. When Eli was just tiny he asked Papa about how to get money. Papa pointed to a pile of dirt and promised to show Eli how he could turn that dirt into money. From there Hall Brothers Produce was born. In reality the true seed had been planted decades earlier. Ron and Bobby were Hall Brothers long before the four grandboys came along. They farmed this same farmland alongside their parents, providing a service to this community, way back when. It was that idea of serving the community, working hard, teaching life skills, and seeing a job through, that Papa wanted to teach his grandsons. As parents, we're so grateful for the opportunity Papa has created for these boys. The lessons they are learning from this small business are endless and they wouldn't have happened without Papa. Papa's love is not over the top, out there, overt and showy love. Papa's love is quiet, consistent, and never-failing. Papa shows his love through acts of service; being there for the boys, he patiently teaches, and seeks his grandsons' well being always before his own. He quietly goes along, never seeking praise, never expecting any thanks, but deserving all the gratitude we can give. A loving grandparent enriches the life of their grandchild; leaving their mark, though not for that purpose, in the very best ways. Papa certainly has done that with the boys. Our prayer is that they seek God with the same determined attitude that their Papa does. We pray that with the boys, right will be right, no matter how unpopular it is... just the way it is with their Papa. We're so grateful that God put Papa in all our lives. I can't imagine where we'd be without him. โค

There's been an interesting development with our little Ruthie-girl. She was a COVID bunny. Grandmama searched for her, and bought her for the boys in April of 2020. They were so excited. ๐Ÿ‡ They have loved on sweet Ruth ever since. ๐Ÿฅฐ Recently Ruth injured her leg, which required us to take her to the vet this morning. Eli and Grandmama took her and when they came back, boy did they have some interesting news for us. Turns out, our little Ruthie-girl is not a girl after all! ๐Ÿ˜ณ We definitely were not expecting that news. ๐Ÿคฃ The boys have decided to change his name to Babe Ruth and we're all having to continually remind ourselves that she's a he. ๐Ÿฐ

Thank you all for all your support these last few days. We've only got 2 days left! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Please keep coming to see us, and tell us goodbye. We want to finish strong. ๐Ÿ’ช

3 days left! How can we begin to thank you all? The whole summer has been fantastic, but these last two days have been great. The boys wanted to take on a bigger role this last week when it came to setting up the produce room and running it. They normally spend the bulk of their time in the fields through the week, but they really wanted a chance to do more of the organizing and selling. They've done a great job and y'all have been great to them. Thank you! Thanks for continuing to share our posts too. We've only got 3 days left.

Grandmama made y'all some fig bread and pepper jelly for tomorrow. She's been really working hard for y'all.

Now, on to our next Hall Brother...
Ruben Hall was named after his great grandfather, Ruben. The latter is familiar to many of our customers who can still remember coming out to the old farm house for peas, or watermelon, or maybe corn. Though our younger Ruben never got to know his great grandfather we like to think these two farmers would hit it off. Farming is in the Hall family blood. Decades later, Ruben is continuing on in the family tradition. Ruben, in many ways, epitomizes a first born. He's a hard worker, and eager to please his parents and grand parents. He naturally takes on a leadership role (sometimes to his brothers' dismay๐Ÿ˜‰). This has been the way for his whole life. He once had a shirt that said, "I'm not bossy. I just know what you should be doing." Pretty accurate. But like I said, that leadership quality also comes from a desire to please. Ruben is typically tuned into the emotions of the people around him, especially the adults, and is eager to help make things run smoothly. He's good with the customers and stays cool under pressure when we get a big rush. He's super hard on himself and beats himself up when he"messes" up. If he ever gets the confidence in himself that we have in him he'll be unstoppable. As a first born and first born grandchild on this side of the family, Ruben was the first to burst our hearts wide open and show us all a whole new level of that thing called love. Thank you for all your hard work, Ruben Riley. We love you beyond words!

Now, we want to highlight another of our workers. This guy is no one new to the Hall Brothers. He's their best friend, more like a brother. He's also their first official employee. Mid- summer the Hall Brothers hired Kaleb. We've been at this little produce business for eight years now and have never hired any help. It was a big step to hire someone, but Kaleb was definitely the right choice. This guy is a champ. He hung right with the brothers. Truth be told, he has helped them with odd jobs off and on through the years, but this year we made it official. Kaleb had a great attitude and willingness to do whatever was asked of him. He helped the boys gather and wash produce, clean up around The Barn, park cars on Saturday, etc. Turns out one of his favorite jobs was to be a "cashier," helping y'all with check out. We couldn't be prouder of our first employee. He's a hard worker, a good boy, and means the world to our family, especially to his "brothers." We love you, Kaleb. โค If you want a job next spring, you're hired. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, it's sad to say, but we've had to make the decision about when to call it quits for 2021. It's a bit earlier this year than usual, but our plants are already acting like mid-August plants. They're ready to be done. This will be our last week for the 2021 Season. Our last day will be Friday, August 6.

The boys organized the produce room tonight, all by themselves. They got it all ready for y'all for tomorrow. Come by and see us this week. Get your last tastes of summer and be tell us goodbye.โค

Time for our "Taste of Fall!"๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ
It's earlier than usual, but it can't be denied; our produce is winding down. Most of you know that everything you purchase from us was grown right here on the farm. When our plants give out they give out. There is a general season for each fruit or vegetable we produce, with only a little wiggle room. The crops call the shots in that way.

We hope y'all will come see us tomorrow to get some of the last morsels of summer and first tastes of fall. The daily pages of 2021 are swiftly turning.

The first 25 customers who would like one will recieve a FREE mini pumpkin at checkout.

Our family loves HBP! Enjoyed a nice trip with dad to the barn today to get some good veggies.๐Ÿฅฐ
(This was originally posted on Saturday, July17, but my computer was uncooperative) I'm getting ready to cook some of the incredible vegetable bounty, sent to Scott and me, from our beloved Hall Brothers Produce family, in Calhoun, Georgia! This is a much belated thank you to these dear people, as 2 boxes (!) of the wonderful veggies, arrived by way of my Carrie, Thursday night. These beautiful veggies are ambrosia, to a vegetarian, as myself...Scott just loves tomatoes, vegetarian, or not...I mean LOVES tomatoes, actually, we both do, and there are tomatoes, of different varieties, shapes, sizes and colors, which made us both, almost giddy! Some of these little beauties, were washed and eaten, the very first thing, while we unpacked the rest of the goodies...it was like unwrapping Christmas presents...while visions of Southern, breaded, fried vegetable recipes, danced in my head...my guilty pleasure, is fresh summer vegetables, breaded in various ingredients, such as grated parmesan cheese, or corn meal, or sweet corn muffin mix, and FRIED, as any summer vegetable should be...I'm still a Kentucky country girl, at heart. These fried goodies, are being accompanied by some of those luscious tomatoes, at every meal. My lunches have been a bowl of tomatoes, with a bit of salt and feta cheese, in a bowl, with some good brown bread, torn into bite size, tossed into the bowl, to absorb those wonderful tomatoes juices, so as not to miss even a bit! I know that I probably sound a little crazy, but that's the effect, that fresh summer veggies, have on me!๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿ… The sweet corn is on tonight's menu, as well as, some yummy fried zucchini...tomorrow, home grown red potatoes, with a buttery, cheese sauce! I believe that I may have finally conquered okra, with just a classic breaded and fried recipe...if it is good a second time, I'll know that I've found my recipe, for those tasty little morsels! The bell peppers are so fragrant and are destined for a brown rice stir fry...the red one was an especially lovely color...I'm hungry, now! Again, as I prepare and cook these wonderful veggies, I fully appreciate the hard, hard work that they represent, and the love that sent them to Scott and me. Thank you my precious dears, you've fed my heart and soul, as well as my tummy!๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿ’›
Thank you for my lunch of tomato sandwich ! Best tomato I have eaten in a while.๐Ÿ˜‹

Can we go get some vegetables from here ?
The vegetables are sooo good. I wonโ€™t go anywhere else to buy produce. And those young men are very well mannered and knowledgeable about the vegetables. I was surprised that Reuben and Sebastian could answer my questions (like talking to adults). Itโ€™s so nice to see young people who have been taught manners nowadays.
Enjoyed our blackberry cobbler tonight with the fresh blackberries I got from you this morning. It was delicious!!
All my pictures didnโ€™t show up
This is Terry Hall, as promised, here some pictures of making Blackberry Jam. I cooked at 220 for 10 minutes. I gallon Of blackberries 2 table spoons lemon juice 1 table spoon of butter Add 1 cup of sugar for every cup of juice I had 12 cups of juice so I added 12 cups of sugar Once temp gets to 175 stir constantly After it reaches 220 start timing for ten minutes turn off heat and place a couple drops of juice into a ice cold plate. Let it set for about 5 minutes then test by pushing with finger. If it crinkles when you push it itโ€™s done. If it done heat it back up to 220 and cook three more minuteas and test again. Have fun!
I visited your farm - first time. Everything was delicious! Waiting on Silver Queen.
