Someone asked what I have growing around here.. here goes!
🥒3 kinds of squash
🪷Artichokes
🥗Lettuce: kale, romaine, green leaf, some other kind I don't remember the name😆)
🧅Green onions
🍅Tomatoes
🌿Herbs: oregano, thyme, sage, lemon balm, basil, parsley, cilantro, camomile, spearmint, bay leaf..is citronella an herb?
🌶Peppers: sweet yellow and red, jalapeños
🍋Fruit: Apricots, plums, cherries, blackberries, rasberries, grapes, almond, tangelos, meyer lemon, lime, nectarine, renier cherries, gala apples, avocado
🤠My plan for this ranch was to plant edibles instead of ornamentals where possible.
🐿I also had some planter boxes built that are off the ground to deter squirrels and other critters, they also save my back from doing all that ground work!
🍒Gardening can be very therapeutic and really isn't a ton of work. I do my best not to get emotionally tied to plants so if they don't make it, I don't get upset. 😆 If they can't keep up with my lifestyle I get it!
💦 Everything is on automatic water drips except 3 pots on "pepper corner". This is what makes it easy...
😋I certainly can't eat it all so I make alot of fruit preserves and love to share or trade with neighbors and friends. I give scraps to my neighbor for her chickens so not much goes to waste.
💐Another ongoing task is to have a full cutting garden for fresh bouquets, but it seems flowers are tougher than food...😅
🫘I encourage you to throw some seeds, its so rewarding and healthy to walk out and pick my salad out of the yard!!
😊You never know what will happen...but getting fresh air and a little work in is always a reward!!
