First fruit of the 2026 harvest! Norgard Chenin came off the vine Monday, the last day of August. This is the earliest I’ve picked Norgard in almost 10 years and also the lightest yield I’ve seen since then. Unusually, the sugars were SUPER high post pressing, but thankfully the flavors are great, which bodes well for the vintage!

Sauv Blanc coming in Friday and all the Cab Francs should start falling after that. Happy harvest!

Some June snippets from a quick trip to the South of France - during an epic heatwave - to celebrate my parents 50tg wedding anniversary. Sarah and I were able to sneak in a few vineyard and w**eries visits and were both amazed by the structure and poise of the Savoie w**es we tasted and the power and precision of Chateauneuf du Papé. Turns out I am more of a mountain viticulture man though, so the French Alpine sites take the cake for me!

Wonderful week of art and culture, excellent dining both out and in, beautiful scenery and even more beautiful time with family. Now the last push before harvest!

Checking on the 2024 and 2025 vintages in the cellar. 2024 is showing excellent poise and structure, while the 25s have greater density, fruitiness, and exuberance.

I’ve been working with concrete eggs from for the Chenin since 2018, finishing Cab Franc in Nu barrel since the 2021 vintage, and utilizing amphorae and barrels from to round out the aging process. These tools allow me to build texture in my w**es, restraining our exuberant sunshine and shaping w**es of character.

Every year, I get more excited about the w**es I’m crafting, and I can’t wait to share these with all of you. If you’re in Napa, come by and taste.
