Several people have contacted me asking if we have milk available. Halo is still holding her calf hostage. I am thankful she did not calve during our hard freeze. I will post when the calf is born. It will be at least 2 weeks after that before milk will be available. We need to allow the colostrum to clear and then send milk samples to the lab to ensure it is safe to consume.
Milk may be limited in the beginning. Feeding the calf is priority. We will making a few changes this year. I will be raising the price from $5/ jar(1/2 gallon) to $7/ jar. The price of feed, hay, jars, testing equipment etc. has only increased. We do not make a profit from the milk sales. We don’t even make enough to pay for feed or hay. We will have a new jar policy. If you do not bring your clean jars back, you can not get milk. You can opt to get milk In plastic jugs if returning jars is going to be a problem. All jars must be clean when returned. They must be at least hand washed with soap. If you break a jar you must return the plastic lid if it is not damaged and you must pay another jar deposit. I will have a complete list of rules available for everyone to sign once milk pick up starts again.
Thank you all for thinking of Halo. I am anxious for this baby to arrive. The late night baby watch is getting old.
