These milk samples were mailed yesterday to CentralStar. These are actually the 3rd set of sample I have mailed in the last month. The first were sent using a prepaid label via USPS. They were delivered to a mailbox 68 miles from the lab. They did in fact make it to the lab on Tuesday. Two weeks after they were mailed. On Tuesday of last week I mailed a second set of samples on Ice overnight using UPS. Those samples arrived at the lab today. Definitely not overnight. The lab called and said that the entire box was covered in mold. The samples I mailed yesterday I sent FedEx overnight. The lab called me this afternoon to let me know these samples arrived safely and looked fine. I should have results by the first of the week. Then I can start using Peaches milk.
The peach color of the milk is due to a preservative that the lab puts in the vial to allow customers to mail samples without having to send them on ice.

Several people have contacted me asking if we have milk available. Halo is still holding her calf hostage. I am thankful she did not calve during our hard freeze. I will post when the calf is born. It will be at least 2 weeks after that before milk will be available. We need to allow the colostrum to clear and then send milk samples to the lab to ensure it is safe to consume.
Milk may be limited in the beginning. Feeding the calf is priority. We will making a few changes this year. I will be raising the price from $5/ jar(1/2 gallon) to $7/ jar. The price of feed, hay, jars, testing equipment etc. has only increased. We do not make a profit from the milk sales. We don’t even make enough to pay for feed or hay. We will have a new jar policy. If you do not bring your clean jars back, you can not get milk. You can opt to get milk In plastic jugs if returning jars is going to be a problem. All jars must be clean when returned. They must be at least hand washed with soap. If you break a jar you must return the plastic lid if it is not damaged and you must pay another jar deposit. I will have a complete list of rules available for everyone to sign once milk pick up starts again.
Thank you all for thinking of Halo. I am anxious for this baby to arrive. The late night baby watch is getting old.
