Bonnie, Meagan, and Maddy went to Shadow Butte Elementary to share with the 4th graders about sheep, herding, and wool. They learned about the Oregon Trail so we shared the importance of wool clothing and blankets to the pioneers. It was fun to share Rooster and Tuna’s herding talents as well as Amy and Bethany’s kind demeanors to share about the Blue Face Leicester sheep. We also got to share washed wool that was carded and spun for them! It was a great outreach opportunity!

As I watched the girls play with the horses, brushing them, braiding their manes, and taking them out for a beautiful spring stroll, I was reminded of why we got the farm. All of the hard work, sacrifices, and effort into making this place into something for the youngest generation of our family. To teach them what hard work and commitment looks like and to see them find their passion for keeping animals. What a beautiful life we live.
