Doctor Kake Over time, I found cake decoration to be a fantastic outlet for my artistic side. People often ask me how I make these cakes. The best part of it?

I stumbled upon cake decoration right before my daughter turned one, when I was trying to figure out how to set a tradition of fun and memorable birthday celebrations. It’s art that you don’t have to store- it’s gone just a day after you’ve finished it! There’s no secret really- just patience and attention to detail. In fact, I am convinced that everyone can do it! People often tell me that they can't cut into the cakes I made, because it makes them feel bad to "destroy" them. I have the exact opposite feeling. That's one of the aspects of cake decoration I love the most. It's art that doesn't pile up so you don't have to find a way to store it. You make it, you eat it, then you can start again. It's truly very liberating!

A Tom and Jerry cake is on its way to completion for a potluck at my daughter's daycare. It's almost done and I am quite excited. Pictures will come soon :).
