We have big news today! Oreo is the proud momma to 3 chicks(so far). She hatched her eggs at 20 days making these the first eggs hatched at Jagger Farms in over 50 years! 💕

Kashi wants to know if you need eggs? Fresh from the farm, $3.50 per dozen. Duck eggs are $5.00 per dozen, $2.50 for half a dozen. :)

Our roosters Kevin, Stewart, and Fish Eyes. We bought 8 bantams from TSC and 4 happened to be roosters. Bob is camera shy. :)

Hot days call for cool, sweet treats. These lovely ladies enjoyed their watermelon today! During our last trip to pick up a few more layers, Atta selected the second chicken in the back row because she was missing all of the feathers on her neck and lots of feathers on her body. She was basically at the bottom of the pecking order. Definitely, not the prettiest chicken I ever bought, but Atta has a big heart and wanted to save her.

“Lucky” is a Leghorn and was a little aggressive when we brought her home. She has settled down in our peaceful flock and her feathers are growing back in quite nicely. In a couple weeks, I’ll do a before and after so stay tuned!

Cruella is our Barred Rock. She is a year old and lays large light brown eggs. She is a little bossy, but we still love her.

Tilly is an Amberlink. She lays large brown eggs. Tilly joined our flock a year and a half ago when she was 1 day old. She loves to be talked to and will talk back when you call her name.

Hope joined the flock with Cruella in May. She doesn’t lay eggs yet, but should start this month. She is a Leghorn and should add some more white eggs in our mix.

Meet Frankie, our Appenzeller Spitzhauben. I don’t think she will be a great egg layer, but who needs to lay eggs with a hat like hers?!

In April, we added 10 more chicks to our flock. Six are Americaunas so we are keeping our fingers crossed for some true blue eggs! We also added two Sapphire Blue Gems (one may be a rooster 😩), a Buff Orpington, and an Appenzeller Spitzhauben named Frankie. She is very small and you can see her at the top of this picture between two other chickens. Wait until you see what she looks like now!

Mo loves people and the camera. She has been a member of the flock for over a year. She loves to lay her eggs in the duck’s coop and tried hatching duck eggs for a couple months. She must have missed the memo that we only have female ducks. 😂

Meet Bubbles. Bubbles joined the flock in 2020 with her sister Quackers. She is the sweetest duck and loves people. She loves to give hugs, go for walks, and of course, swim. She laid 307 eggs last year. If you would like to sample her eggs, let the girls know and they will give you a sample! Once you try duck eggs, you are guaranteed to love them!

The girls made their coup with recycled materials found on the farm including 100+ old shiplap barn siding from the Jagger farm and 100+ year old windows from the chicken coop that their Grandma Jagger (Wortman) collected eggs from as a small child.
