Sawyers Creek Farm

Sawyers Creek Farm Meet your Farmers

Our names are Eric and Stacy Rossmanith. We are originally from Nebraska and love our Cornhuskers.

Regenerative agriculture farm in Camden, NC, raising grass-fed, pasture-raised Barbados Blackbelly sheep and producing naturally grown vegetables for wholesale to local restaurants. Our son was born in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2014. Eric is an active duty Marine stationed on Naval Station Norfolk. Stacy is an avid gardener and gets really excited about how plants, animals, trees and the soil

all work together. We’ve moved many places but have always loved North Carolina and have always been interested in self-reliance, animal care, growing food, and caring for the environment. As our plants started over taking over our base housing back yard and time was spent reading Ben Falk, Richard Perkins, Toby Hemenway, Joel Salatin and Mark Shepard’s books, we just couldn’t wait any longer to move to the country. So, we’ve settled into our property along Sawyers Creek in Camden County North Carolina where we are surrounded by a beautiful landscape, the climate is temperate, and the frogs sing all night. Eric is especially excited to be closer to the outer banks where he can do more offshore fishing; the other love of his life. We are first and foremost stewards of the land. We care deeply about the soil, sequestering carbon, holistically raising livestock, sustainability, community, producing healthy food, and turning our farm into a diverse, abundant, and resilient ecosystem. We never use chemicals and we never till the land. We believe its important to know how what you eat is produced. We believe all animals should live their best life as they would in nature and not in confinement. We strive to mimic nature while providing the most nutritious meat and produce for us and for our community by raising animals on pasture, utilizing rotational grazing, and creating a perennial produce system.
“We believe in something and are working to achieve it.” -Eric

Sunset zoomies are one of our favorite parts of raising sheep. 🌅
🐑

When the paddock is close to the house, we get a front-row seat to all the running, playing, and jumping after a day of grazing. It’s hard not to stop what you’re doing and watch them.

These are Barbados Blackbelly Sheep. They’re a hardy, low-input hair sheep that require no shearing, are known for their high quality meat, parasite resistance, thrive on forage, and are exceptionally well adapted to the hot, humid conditions of the Southeast. They’re excellent mothers, efficient grazers, and fit perfectly into our rotational grazing system.

We love raising livestock that can do what sheep were designed to do—harvest grass, build soil, and thrive with minimal intervention.

📢 P.S. We currently have 3 Barbados Blackbelly ewe lambs available. They are naturally raised, rotationally grazed, electric-net trained, and would be a great addition to a homestead, starter flock, breeding program, or regenerative grazing operation.

Processed meat chickens this weekend and we’ve been VERY impressed with the breast size and overall yield of the Freedom Ranger Hatchery, Inc. Color Yield breed! These birds were processed at just 9 1/2 weeks old and we would highly recommend the Color Yields to anyone looking for a quality pasture-raised meat bird.

We grilled a fresh spatchcock chicken and it was absolutely mouthwatering delicious. The flavor and tenderness were unreal!

There’s just something incredibly rewarding about raising your own meat — knowing exactly what they’re eating, how they’re raised, and the care that goes into every step. Clean feed (non-gmo soy free), fresh air, pasture, bugs, sunshine, and humane care make all the difference. We’re thankful for healthy birds and full freezers here at Sawyers Creek Farm! 🐓🌱🥩

Such a beautiful reminder of God’s provision and blessings. Watching what He can do with a tiny seed never gets old. 🙌

Fresh paddock, happy sheep. 🌱🐑

We practice management intensive grazing right now — moving every 3 days for healthier pasture, healthier animals, and better land stewardship. Rotate, regenerate, repeat.

Nature doing its thing 🙌

A while back I found a praying mantis egg sac out in the wild and tucked it safely into our high tunnel… and now look what’s happening

They’re hatching!! Hundreds of tiny, fierce little predators ready to go to work. This is exactly why I love organic gardening—no chemicals, just letting nature balance itself out. These guys will help keep pests in check while everything grows.

It’s wild, it’s a little magical, and honestly… it never gets old 🌱✨

I knew she was pregnant… but not ‘I’m giving birth today’ pregnant. 😆
Never gets old seeing new babies born on the farm.
