Does it look different than full bloom? Yes.

This time of year there is a contract in bright color from flowers still blooming next to spent stems and plants that gave it their all and are now done. There’s a beauty and a peace in that.

The garden is open until frost.

Gomphrena, celosia, strawflower, salvia, grasses, feverfew and more are all here to pick and dry. Use a cup ($20) or a jar ($15) and pick enough for many bundles to dry.

Also, the LISIANTHUS has rebounded with plenty of new blooms!!

I won’t be at the Pork Festival this year. I’m bummed, but here’s the thing…. When I say we are back at 100% after the greenhouse fire, I mean we are fully back for the fresh flower/u-pick aspect. The year continued as normal in those regards.

The months of scrambling that ensued between January 1 and the start of our u-pick season was exactly that…a scramble. Normally, I am already pepping for summer and fall festivals and craft fairs. I use dried blooms from the past year to jump start my inventory. I play and create in the winter and early spring when I’m itching for the season to start.

I did no creating during this winter and early spring. I was barely treading water trying to have a season. I don’t have the stock to sell at the Pork Festival. I have PLENTY of dried and still drying flowers! That part is great, but I have no decor items to sell. 💔

I am rebuilding my stock to sell. I’ll continue to have dried flowers in the shed on weekend days that aren’t rainy. I’ll post on here when I have a handful of items to sell. I also intend to have a weekend that the trailer is open here at the farm for shopping. That will happen later in October…. Maybe in the high tunnel if the weather turns chilly!
