We are a small NW Missouri farm having fun with a beautiful herd of registered and unregistered Scottish Highlands, Belted Galloways and an assortment of dogs, cats, donkeys, horses and whatever else finds us!

When weaning, we try and introduce all of our kids to things you will need them to do on your farm. Today was walking the sweep and chute. Wednesday, they get vaccinated and ✂️. We try and make this as less stressful as possible by walking them through multiple times prior to our vet coming.

I’ll be honest. I failed on this one.

We had a sick pregnant cow that started pulling herself away from the herd. She’s always been the “please don’t talk to me” kinda girl, but never left her herd.

Next day, snotty nose. No heavy breathing, no coughing. Nothing.
Day after, still not with the herd, we darted with Draxxin KP. She “seemed” to get better, but then regressed. It was the pain reliever, we think, that tricked us. Penny Acre Ranch reminded me of the pain reliever and I was like, YES!!! Tricks!!!

Next day, got her in a smaller area, then moved her to the barn. Allee Veterinary Services: Cameron, MO was able to come see her and confirm she had pneumonia. She was as able to doctor her up with some Exceed, Banamine and B Vitamins, AND confirm baby was in position and ready to go.

I HATE that they can’t talk to us. She is now stuck in the barn with our boys that are being weaned and she does NOT appreciate me being in there talking half the day. 😂

4 hrs later and she’s eating hay. (I haven’t seen her eat in DAYS)(Trust me, I’ve been a helicopter mom)

Why do we get so emotional over these animals?????

*This pic was directly after Dr left us, so she was mad. She doesn’t normally look this skinny. (My girls are normally kinda “happy/overfed”)
