Showing livestock is expensive.
Llamas, sheep…weekend after weekend, spring through fall—it adds up fast. Honestly, it’s probably the most expensive thing we could have chosen to do as a family.
But when I look at my kids in the ring, or out in the barn late at night working with their animals, I know without a doubt… it’s worth every single penny.
Because this lifestyle is more than ribbons and banners.
It’s keeping my kids busy, passionate, and focused on something positive. It’s teaching them responsibility, pride, and grit in a way no classroom ever could. It’s giving them memories with their animals and with us that they’ll carry for the rest of their lives. And honestly? I can’t think of a better way to raise my children.
Yes, it’s expensive—and we’ve felt that crunch just like every other family out here. But one day I stopped saying “we can’t afford this” and started asking “how can we afford this?”
That one decision changed everything.
If you know me, you know I run an online livestock health business. And let me tell you—what started as a way to help our own animals has become the very thing that’s allowed us to keep showing, keep traveling, and keep giving our kids these opportunities. It’s given us time freedom, financial freedom, and the ability to say “yes” to the things that matter most and my greatest joy is helping other show families just like ours do the same!
So here’s my heart: showing livestock may be expensive, but the rewards? They’re priceless. ❤️
My advice to other show families that I get to talk to and help support every single day; next time your feeling the crunch don’t say “we can’t afford it” rather try saying “how can we afford it” it’s all about priorities and looking into new opportunities 💕
Have a blessed week, my DM’s are always open and I would love to help!
