Good Morning friends! ☀️

Have you ever kicked off your shoes and walked barefoot in the grass or garden?

There’s something about feeling the earth beneath your feet that just feels good for the soul. Maybe it’s the cool morning dew, the warm dirt, or simply slowing down long enough to notice the beauty around us. I bet my gardening friend Ambie has her feet in the dirt as we speak! “Earthing” balances her body.

I, also spent a few minutes outside barefoot this morning, checking on the plants and enjoying the quiet. No phone. No rush. Just birds singing, a gentle breeze, and gratitude for another day.

Sometimes the simplest things are the most refreshing. A few minutes in nature can calm a busy mind and remind us to slow down and enjoy the season we’re in.

So today, if you get the chance, kick off your shoes and stand in the grass for a minute or two. It might be exactly what your heart needs.

Are you a barefoot-in-the-yard kind of person?

Have an amazing day, friends! ☕️.

What a day, Farm Stand friends! Not a typical Wednesday for us!

Our morning started early as we headed out the door to Monroe City, Missouri, for a basketball tournament. Our two oldest grands are playing in a summer league for the next three weeks, and we always enjoy cheering them on from the sidelines. They won both games! 🏀👏

On the way home, we picked up groceries for my mom and dropped off a couple of boxes at the UPS Store. You know how those errands seem to multiply when you’re already out and about!

Tonight, starting at 6:15, we’ll be back at the ol’ ballpark for two baseball games. Summer schedules are definitely in full swing around here!

What am I loving right now? A brief reprieve with my feet up and a beautiful bowl of Bing cherries. Wow, are they ever good this year! Just taking a few quiet moments before the next round of sports begins. 🍒

Good morning, friends!

This morning I woke up in a very different place… NO VERTIGO! 🎉

I truly believe the treatment worked for me. The repositioning of the crystals in my ear seems to be doing exactly what it was supposed to do. I slept at my 45-degree angle last night and followed all the instructions my ENT gave me yesterday. This morning, I can feel my steady and balanced life returning. I am so very grateful and excited!

And isn’t this a beautiful photo? The clematis is in full bloom here in these first few days of June. That rich purple color is simply stunning.

I’m headed out the door pretty quickly this morning. We have a grandkid to get to school for speed and strength training, and we’ll be watching another one as well! Dave is helping with everything, so I’m operating with a team of two today to make sure I don’t get too rambunctious. 😊

It’s a busy week with the grands. Our two oldest are playing in a summer basketball league for the next several weeks, so there will be plenty of cheering from the sidelines.

This weekend, the whole crew will be heading to the air show in St. Louis. We need to send up a few prayers for those clouds to move on out of there! Right now they’re calling for cloud cover and a chance of rain, and we want to see those Blue Angels in all their glory. Maybe the good Lord will clear a path for us. 🙏✈️

I’d like to thank all of you for your prayers, encouragement, and concern these past few days. Your kindness has meant more than you know. I truly have the best followers on Facebook.

Gotta scoot! Have a wonderful Tuesday, friends!

I didn’t break anything!

Well…I Have a Story to Tell!

Since November of 2025, I’ve been dealing with vertigo.

I had never experienced it before, but one morning I woke up and the room was spinning. Unfortunately, I had a catering job scheduled that day, so I called on Ashlee to come help me get everything done. I could barely walk without holding onto a wall.

A week went by and I still had it. I bought some supplements that were supposed to help—ginkgo, for example—and I thought they were helping a little. The vertigo became manageable enough that I could still do life, but it never completely went away.

Combined with my retinal tear and Lyme disease, life has had a few extra challenges lately!

Last month, I saw my neurologist. Because of my MS history, he wondered if I might be experiencing a flare-up caused by a new brain lesion, so we repeated my MRI. Thankfully, there were no new changes. Great news! But it still didn’t explain the vertigo.

One clue was that my vertigo happens along with nystagmus (those involuntary shaking eye movements) whenever I’m in a reclined position. Because of that, my neurologist referred me to an ENT specialist.

Today, I finally got an answer.

It turns out this type of vertigo is caused by tiny crystals inside the inner ear that become displaced. One of mine had apparently floated out of position. Did you know you have crystals in your ears? 😂 I honestly thought that sounded like crazy talk at first, but I’ve since brushed up on my ear anatomy!

At today’s appointment, the ENT performed a treatment designed to move the crystal back where it belongs. Now I have to wear this neck brace for 48 hours and sleep at a 45-degree angle to keep those little crystals from wandering off again.

The goal is to keep everything in place while my ear settles down.

So, another challenge—or maybe just another adventure—in my 60s. 😄

I was headed outside to check on my flowers this afternoon, but Dave took one look at me and said, “I think those flowers can wait awhile.”

Ha!

Hello June! ☀️

Good morning, friends!

Well, here we are…the first day of June! Can you believe it? It feels like we were just welcoming spring, and now summer is knocking on the door.

June is one of my favorite months. The gardens are waking up, flowers are blooming, hummingbirds are busy, and fresh strawberries are making their appearance. There’s something about these longer days and warm sunshine that makes everything feel a little lighter.

This month will bring pool days with the grands, time on the patio with a cup of coffee, tending plants, vacations, and hopefully making lots of sweet summer memories. I’m looking forward to every bit of it.

As we turn the calendar page, I hope June brings you simple joys, good health, laughter, and plenty of reasons to slow down and enjoy the beauty around you. What exciting plans do you have for the month of June?

Grab your coffee, step outside for a few minutes, listen to the birds, and welcome a brand-new month. Here we go!

Hello June…we’ve been waiting for you! 🤗

STRAWBERRY JAM

5 cups prepared fruit (buy about 2 qt. fully ripe strawberries)
1 box Sure Jell pectin
1/2 tsp. butter or margarine
7 cups sugar, measured into separate bowl

Lets make it-

Bring boiling-water canner, half full with water, to simmer. Wash jars and screw bands in hot soapy water; rinse with warm water. Pour boiling water over flat lids in saucepan off the heat. Let stand in hot water until ready to use. Drain well before filling.

Stem and crush strawberries thoroughly, one layer at a time. Measure exactly 5 cups prepared fruit into 6- or 8-qt. saucepot.

Stir pectin into fruit in saucepot. Add butter to reduce foaming. Bring mixture to full rolling boil (a boil that doesn't stop bubbling when stirred) on high heat, stirring constantly. Stir in sugar. Return to full rolling boil and boil exactly 1 min., stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Skim off any foam with metal spoon.

Ladle immediately into prepared jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of tops. Wipe jar rims and threads. Cover with two-piece lids. Screw bands tightly. Place jars on elevated rack in canner. Lower rack into canner. (Water must cover jars by 1 to 2 inches. Add boiling water, if needed.) Cover; bring water to gentle boil. Process 10 min. Remove jars and place upright on a towel to cool completely. After jars cool, check seals by pressing middle of lids with finger. (If lids spring back, lids are not sealed and refrigeration is necessary.)

It’s homemade ice cream time! Use a good vanilla! In stock and ready to ship! 👇

BROWN SUGAR VANILLA HOMEMADE ICE CREAM

INGREDIENTS
1/2 gallon whole milk
1/2 pint heavy whipping cream
8 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
6 rennet tablets *( Junket brand)
1/8 cup tap water
3 Tablespoons pure Farm Stand Vanilla
EQUIPMENT
6 quart ice cream freezer

LETS MAKE IT-

Add the milk and whipping cream to a large pan. Heat to lukewarm over medium heat. Remove from heat. In a bowl, beat eggs and sugar; add to milk and cream. Return to heat and bring to an “ edge simmer”...it should be very warm, but don’t boil. Remove from heat and let set for up to an hour to room temperature. Add the mixture to a covered container and store in the refrigerator overnight to chill.

When you are ready to freeze: In a small bowl, add the rennet tablets and water. Let dissolve. Pour the chilled ice cream mix into the ice cream freezer canister. Add the rennet tablet mixture and the vanilla. Swish the paddle around to incorporate for 5 seconds. Add lid and freeze according to your freezers instructions.

NOTES: the reason we use Rennet In our ice cream: When added to ice cream, rennin improves texture and consistency, preventing lumpy ice crystals from forming. Rennet tablets are found in the ice cream topping section of your grocery store, or in the jello/gelatin isle. If you cannot find rennet tablets, substitute with 2 teaspoons lemon juice.
