Homeplace on Green River is a shared project of Adair, Green and Taylor counties and is located at 5807 New Columbia Road, Campellsville, KY 42718. The farm is being restored by volunteers and is administered by a Board of Directors representing all three counties. Homeplace is dedicated to the
protection and promotion of rural American
culture through the sustainability of agriculture and natur
al resources using education, conservation and the economic opporuntities of agri-tourism. Homeplace showcases the local history of Adair, Green and Taylor counties as well as that of all of Kentucky. Homeplace has a rich history of national, state, and community support. Since receiving its 501 (c)(3) tax free status in 2002, it has been granted over $850,000 in funding from 15 organizations and agencies. In addition to the three county governments, The Nature Conservancy, U.K. Cooperative Extension Service, TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOURSEKY), Tebbs Bend Battlefield Association, Heartland Waterways Tourism Corridor, Kentucky Departments of Agriculture, Fish and Wildlife, and Forestry, USDA Natural Resources and Conservation Services and others are playing an active role in the restoration and operation of the farm. Funding for initial purchase of the property was provided by The Farmland Protection Program. Individuals and families have made $5,000-$10,000 gifts for projects at Homeplace including for the home and reconstruction of an early log to***co barn. The combined 800+ acres and surrounding region add to Homeplace’s strength as a potential major tourist destination. The Homeplace on Green River and adjacent Tebbs Bend/Green River Nature area owned by Taylor County are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Homeplace also borders on the historic Tebbs Bend Civil War Battlefield. Homeplace offers a living-learning-working farm that is being restored while remaining operational and 97% debt-free.
