Stopped in at the postal service in Campton while we were there trying to get our builder's risk policy set up for the bank to be a beneficiary (10/7). Takes two weeks for them to determine whether they can approve a a route extension from the last mailbox less than a quarter mile further. Postmaster asked me who told me I needed a route extension. I said, "The postmaster that was here eight months ago when I first came in here asking when I could get my mail delivered to my house."

🍂 Thankful Thursday & Welcome, October! 🍂

October showed up right on time, and we're more than ready to welcome it.

The cisterns are in. The septic is in. The ground is covered back up, and a whole lot of the behind-the-scenes work that doesn't look terribly exciting in pictures is finally checked off the list.

Which means we're getting closer to the part we've been waiting for…

The actual build. 🏡

After months of plans, measurements, decisions, phone calls, deliveries, inspections, and more than a few little adventures along the way, it sure feels good to look at that piece of ground and know that something is finally about to rise from it.

But before we jump headfirst into October's next chapter, we're taking a few days to head over toward Buffalo Creek.

I'll be helping my cousin with her booth at the West Virginia Pumpkin Festival, doing a little visiting, and most importantly, spending some time with Uncle Willis. ❤️

Sometimes the work can wait a few days.

Family, pumpkins, good conversation, and making memories? Those are worth making time for.

So here's to October — cooler mornings, changing leaves, old friends, family time, and the beginning of a very big chapter for us.

We're thankful for every step that got us here.

We're at that time of year where you start the morning off with two shirts and a jacket. A pair of jeans, and insulated pants. An hour later the top layers come off. Then by 1:00 it's time for shorts and tank tops.
So I reach in my duffel bag to pull out of t-shirt and start to put it on it feels wet. The inside of the cabin still really cool so maybe it was just cool. No, I get an overwhelming odor of cat urine. I guess somebody decided to let me know how much he appreciated that 13-hour car ride yesterday. But with the volume it could have been my very jealous dog because she doesn't like competition for attention.
