Hey all! I wanted to put a face to the name, it's me, I am Farmer Nae and I'm the farmer here at Still Shady Farms 🙋♀️❤️ Oh and the name of our farm is a fun topic too, our farm is off of Shady Lane and the Stillwater Creek runs right in front of our house, hence the name Still Shady 😎
I am a pig farmer through and through, self taught for the most part. I will ask questions and take advice from anyone who has more knowledge than me because one can never know too much! I do however, raise other animals. I have chickens, rabbits, ducks and I finally have a cow and calf 🙌
I also have bees and because of those lovely bees, I have delicious honey! I have a garden, help run some community gardens and volunteer at the local extension office when I can.
I am married and have been married long enough that the number of years escapes me (I'm thinking 11 or 12, forgive me husband). We have 4 children and 1 grandchild. My husband will help move the heavy things, operates the machinery and will help with the bees but everything else is my job. You won't ever catch him with a pig or chicken in his hands 🤣🤣 He will tell you that he is married to the farmer, he isn't the farmer 😜
I raise all of these animals and our garden to feed my family but when there is extra I sell locally at the farmers market or at my local coffeeshop. That's right, in addition to running a family and a farm I also own a coffee shop 😝 I stay busy but I definitely wouldn't have it any other way!
It's fun to share little snippets of my farm life on here from time to time and I hope to do better this year than I have in years past!
