Baum farm Certified Organic hay availability for 2025
Pricing and yield quantities

General hay information:

We harvested 713 round bales this year, this is a 30 % reduction in yield than prior years due to this year drought. All our hay is certified Organic by Vermont organic farmers certificate is available upon request. We are selling the hay in three groups A. Early first cut hay, B. Late first cut hay, C. Second cut hay.. All the hay is sold in a round bales format (4 by 4). All hay is dry hay. All of the hay is suitable all grazing animals horses, cows and goats due to the fact that we wrap the hay within hours of baling to eliminate mold growth. All round bales are triple wrapped to seal in the freshness, typically other farmers wrap 2 or less. The hay can be bough direct at the farm or we ship by a semi load of 44 bales each. None of the hay has been tested yet, it needs to sit for 30 days before test. If we have hay remaining, we will get it tested and results are available on request. We guarantee all of our hay.

Group A Early first cut hay

All the early cut hay was harvested in June. Hay yield were very high in each field due to extra rain in the spring. Very high quality hay.

Quantity available: 432 Price: $75 each

Group B Late cut hay

This hay was harvested from field 4 in September. Original planned to not cut this field but, due to the drought and the need for extra hay we harvested it. The quality of this hay is lower than our early first cut. This hay would be good for all types grazing animal but not suited for lactating dairy cows due to its lower energy values.

Quantity available: 119 Price: $62 each

Group C Second cut hay

Our yield for second cut hay was extremely low, therefore limited quantity are available for sale. We harvested 3 fields over 65 acres to get such a low yield. We waiting as late as possible to harvest, due to the drought but, even that did not help much. This hay is very dry and of excellent quality.

Quantity available: 116 Price: $88 each

The Beef problem in the US is a symptom of other agriculture problems in our food supply

The latest report from the USDA is that the beef herd has shrunk so much that it is now the same size it was in 1951. The increase in population of the US is now 320% bigger than it was in 1951. How is it that we now have such a larger population and the beef herd is small, but we still have beef?

I will tell you what it is not; it is not a magic beef cow or that the US farmer is so productive. The reason is the importing of beef from other countries, primary from South America. According to some information, we import over 30% of all our food in this county. The reason the US beef herd is getting smaller, and the beef imports are getting larger, is monetary. The cost to raise beef in the US is much higher than the cost in South America. This imbalance is due to the world’s fake money, fiat money, backed by nothing. This allows the US dollar to be more valuable than the South America currencies, but I will leave the reason for this out of this discussion.
