One hundred and eight years ago today, this ole boy hit the ground runnin’ in Wichita County. He and sister Jo drove a horse and buggy to school. He wowed the girls at Amarillo High with a bright yellow jalopy.

He swept the prettiest girl at the picnic off her feet (on a horse he “borrowed” from a neighbor) away from her date. Married her as soon as he could and moved her to a ranch house near Iowa Park with no indoor plumbing or air-conditioning. Poor Liz.

Bought a ranch in the northeast Panhandle with his mother and brother and spent the rest of his life fulfilling his dream of being a cattle rancher.

He bought a new Cadillac and a new tractor to celebrate his 100th birthday and got extended warranties on both.

He treasured his family and his friends. We cherish his memory and legacy.

We are announcing that we are cancelling our production sale that was scheduled for October 11, 2021. The last two years were extremely dry in Southeast Hemphill County, Texas. We had to keep our cow numbers in balance with the grass and now we are seeing the effect in lower sale bull numbers. We have an awesome set of bulls to sell, but not enough to host our sale. The details are in the ad below and we will keep you posted on Facebook and our website.
