Let me cut you flowers. Tell me why you need them. For a friend who was brave. For you as you heal. For someone who is grieving. For a joy worth celebrating.
Whatever it is — I’ll hold it in my heart as I cut flowers. I’ll slip away from the noise and busyness of my life and center my focus on you or your dear one as I cut a bucket of blooms.

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately. Overwhelmed with feeling like I’ve let myself, my community, my family down. Overwhelmed because I never quite found a way to make the flower farm my full time gig. Overwhelmed because I don’t get to spend time in the flowers much anymore. Overwhelmed because I actually love my new day job. Overwhelmed because I actually have good benefits and good pay and flexibility. Overwhelmed because I feel like a fraud not a farmer.

Then someone like comes along and asks to take picture of me in the flowers. The flowers that are overgrown, tangled with weeds, that are overwhelming me every time I drive by them to go to work, or kid’s sport practice, or to the store because I’ve never figured out how to meal plan.

Rachel spent time with me and asked me to slow down and asked me questions about life and what I love. She let me share pieces of my story that I don’t really talk about often. She let me be soft, when I feel like lately I’ve had to wear a fairly tough shell.

Rachel sent me my photos today, and I cried. They capture the feeling of being in the field, and the world beyond the farm just disappears. The flower field feels like a bubble of safety to me. I go there to pray and to dream and to reset.

Thank you Rachel. I feel seen. I feel like my tiny but mighty efforts as a part time farmer are seen.
