New River Pearl gave us our first scottish highland calf born on Kiser Farm this morning. Mom and little man are doing well. We are watching him closely to make sure he is getting his Momma's milk. Send good thoughts!! The next couple of days are important for his health. Pearl is a new momma. We will come up with a good name in the next few days.

He looks like a little teddy bear.

Thanks to his auntie Laura who alerted us this morning.

You know you raise cows when there is colostrum replacement in the refrigerator. Beside the apple juice and half and half and tomato sauce. Notice it barely fits.

An Irish blessing. Happy St. Patrick's day ☘️ from Kiser Farm

May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks.
May your heart be as light as a song.
May each day bring you bright, happy hours
That stay with you all the year long

Yesterday was a sad day at Kiser Farm

Blue Bell passed away. She had been sick for a few months under veterinarian observation. We were trying to determine the underlying cause of her symptoms with blood tests and physical exams. Yesterday the veterinarian said that it may be bovine lymphoma. We collected more blood for testing in hope for final answers.

Farming is hard and rewarding, but sometimes no matter our best we experience sadness because of the relationships we make with these creatures.

She was a great addition to our family and will be missed. Pearl is aleady missing her BFF. We love our coos.
